The only part of John Dies at the End I enjoyed was the presence of Snow.

Huh?

I didn't notice him in the show, and he's not listed on the IMDB. What part is he in, cause I can't believe I missed seeing that!

The book has a really good throw away reference to the song which was one of the only pop culture references in it that didn't make me roll my eyes. I haven't seen the movie.

drat, that would have improved the movie. Oh well.

I bring you summer in the 90's.

I actually still like the original super soaker designs compared to what we have today. The only person on the block that could out gun you would be the rich kid with that backpack super soaker. I can't even remember what number it was. Might have been the 300.

Must have been a rough 'hood.

I had one of the more moderately sized SSs and then I got a dual-tank but my pride and joy was a battery operated Uzi (in bright pink or green or something) that made a sad *wah wah wah* sound as the motor cranked a sad series of streams but it came with non-staining* dye packs so the generally sweaty business of summer water fights wouldn't cover up how much damage you'd done to your friends.

*Just kidding, non-staining, yeah sure. One olde weird trick that pisses off every mom in a four block radius including your own.

Ha! I think I had the M-16 version of that gun.

Was your uzi by chance one of these b(s)ad boys?

I'm not sure if that is my M16 but it's drat close. And I remember my dye being a sepperate package.

Mechanical pencil cases with bells and whistles (well, not literally but mine had a pop-up thermometer):

(No that's not the one I had!)

I saw some pencil cases in the Disney store the other day and got super excited.. Until I found out that they were basically flat boxes with nothing special :(

The pencil cases of the 80's and 90's were awesome. Secret compartments, and mechanical pop widgets made a kid feel like they had some secret cool spy gear for going to school!

I used to bring battlebeasts to school with me, and the pencil case would be their base! And my Trapper keeper would be like the battle space.

I know they started in 87, but they continued into the 90's. I was still buying them as late as 93.

Sorry I can't link directly to the tumblr due to websense >.< But this pencil case is awesome!http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...Q9QEwAw&dur=496

That poo poo never worked, and neither did the other brand that came in the test tubes! :argh:

I never had problems getting that poo poo to work. Hell I still buy it when I see it in a coinop at the local grocery store! My wife on the other hand, can never get it to work. Or if she does, the bubbles are pathetic and don't hold up for long.

Motherfucking Battletech Centers. I never lived anywhere that had these, but I remember hearing about them from my cousins and 5 year old me thought they sounded like the absolute poo poo. Gonna be honest I still think these are loving awesome and kinda wish that they caught on. Closest version of these that I've seen are those Gundam Pods I played when I was in Japan, but good luck finding anything similar in the States.

And even though it has been brought up already, gently caress it, Toonami is always relevant when talking about the 90s.

I was probably 7-8ish when I saw that and it was the first time I wrote a letter because I really didn't want Moltar to go away and take my favorite shows. I like to think that it worked, seeing as Toonami lasted until 2008.

They also had the coolest bumpers

And the coolest ads

IIRC that one was used as an official ad for Gundam Wing at one point, no idea if that's true or not but I remember that ad is what convinced me to sneak downstairs and watch it on the Midnight Run.

Also Gundam Wing technically counts, it came out in 95 in :japan: Glorious Nippon.

The pods are still in operation. Every once in a while I treck on down to Dallas and spend a day killing robits.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleTech_Centers#List_of_BattleTech_centers

Not sure how current the list is though.

*edit*
Holy crap, I didn't realize that the last time Had been to dallas was in 2010. Looks like Gunslinger doesn't host the pods between cons anymore. But Houston looks to still be in operation. http://www.mechcorps.com/
