I have to thank fellow goon Zoopador for turning me onto this podcast. Proops can be hit or miss for me, but I have to strongly recommend the Diamonds episode (Wed, Nov 16 2011) if only for when he goes off on the cruise ship captain and the fat audience. The rest of the episode is pretty mediocre (its not his ideal crowd), but his story about the bats in the cave is Hunter S. Thompson-grade surreal. I listened to Proops' CD Elsewhere, and I kinda like his podcasts better. They were really similar in style, but his rants in the podcasts are more focused and he goes more into detail on a given subject. I don't think he works as well when he's doing bits.

I saw some goony looking guys at the proopcast in Portland tonight. Any of you there? It was pretty good. What surprised me was that what I liked live was opposite of listening to the recordings--I loved the goofy singing and stuff, and wasn't fascinated by the boring preachy parts.

Well, I guess it's a good thing I went to the Portland show. Looks like it's not gonna be available for download. Maybe he thought there was too much redundant material. By the way, before the show Greg went through the audience and met every single person attending, and shook every hand. Got to admire that.

This is no poo poo my favorite podcast. Way to be the only sufficiently left-wing comedian in all of loving America, Greg Proops. I am also a fan of how he goes through like four glasses (just, glasses, not shots) of straight vodka per show, while also having been drinking beforehand. What a fuckin champ.

While listening to episode after episode can get dull due to Greg's complete and total lack of flex, the dude is so true to his beliefs that I can't help but find that Smartest Man In The World is the best podcast around. I do kinda wish he'd have a guest person on from time to time. Hearing Greg and Colin or Ryan or any of Greg's other comedy friends would be phenomenal.
