I'm listening to Winters right now, and the first half-hour has been just baseball, negro leagues and jazz. Fantastic.

Edit: And literally three minutes later, he's railing against the media. Ha~!

If Greg Proops did less of the political stuff, I'd like to get back on the Smartest Man in the World train. Any of the more recent episodes you guys recommend?

He just released another Film Club episode, this one one on "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3". The various anecdotes he pulls about the people behind the movies, combined with his stories about watching cinema in the 70s are pretty interesting. If you think you'd enjoy that, I'd recommend all of the Greg Proops Film Club episodes.

Pelham has been sitting in my Netflix queue for a while, glad I waited this long. Should I watch the movie first, or is this like Rifftrax, where you watch it alongside the movie?

The Film Club eps are mostly a prologue to him screening said movie, followed by him saying "I give you (said movie)", a brief sound of audio cutting to credits rolling and finally a shorter discussion of said movie with a Q & A. So yeah, as soon as he stops the prologue by presenting it, I'd pause the podcast and start it up. It's pretty clear in the podcast.

Also, is the Netflix movie the original or the remake? You should really go out and find the 70s version with Walter Matthau. It's the one Greg discusses and it really is waaay better than the Travolta remake.

Oh, no friend. I was raised on old-rear end movies and I definitely have Greg's snobbery built in. I'm talkin' the Matthau one.

I do know that he answers some audience questions when he was in Brooklyn this past Saturday. I'm assuming that it'll be the next episode that drops. Also, cassowaries.

Hey goons, not to be a self-promoting jerk, but mostly in preparation for Peace Corps I decided to finally get myself a blog, and by extension I am putting some other stuff on there. I only have two posts up at the moment, but one of the two is an interview I had with Greg Proops. It might be something you'd enjoy to read? If nothing else I can promise you that Proops is as superbly terrific of a person as he comes across in his shows.

What's all this about Greg's mom swirling among the stars at the end of Turkeys? Is that something that happened a long time ago, or did the man loose a parent and still pulled off an amazing episode?
