asbo subject posted:No, the pockets were huge and the table was the same size. I even looked at other pool tables in Amrica and the pockets were huge on every table I looked at. Yes, UK-standard tables have smaller pockets than US-standard ones, look it up on wikipedia or something to find the real names for the two types.

I saw the 2-man scam you ran with your uncle; what's the biggest/most complicated you've participated in? Have you ever used rigged equipment? How do you keep other people from using gaffed equipment against you?

jase1 posted:I am curious what tipped you off to the 2 man hustle. Did they get busted or was it successful and you just noticed it? The 2-man hustle is the biggest thing I have done. I usually hustle by myself it's easier and I'd rather not split money. Oh no, I wasn't there - I mean I saw you mention it in the thread. As best I know we've never met.

They don't have to file a cash transaction report but are "encouraged" to file a suspicious transaction report for any amount.

If you aim centre point to centre point there exists this spherical mass around the centre point that will gently caress up your poo poo. Everybody see why it's always point masses in high school physics now?

jase1 posted:I might try to find one now it would be fun to just show up and run the table. I wonder if they do anything to give them an edge or if it's a regulation table? If it's like the rest of the games, the equipment is definitely gaffed to make it tough to win anything. EDIT to fix formatting. Midjack fucked around with this message at 06:31 on Jun 8, 2012 |

Same Great Paste posted:Unless my memory is playing tricks, jase1 prefers janky tables with dead rails and worn felt if possible since he's better at evaluating and compensating for same than most. Unless the guy running the game makes the shot in front of you before giving you a try at it, it is probably impossible. If he does make the shot, then yeah, there's a secret there but it may take some extensive survey work to determine what the trick is.

jase1 posted:Supposedly you can hear a distinct snap when someone deals off the bottom of the deck but I have never seen it or heard it, which brings this to my next story. Dealing seconds is what makes the really distinctive noise because you're pulling the card sandwiched between two cards instead of off a single one. I don't believe bottom dealing will make a noise at all any different than top dealing. Any weird deals look at the dealer's hands, the motion is what gives it away more than anything else. jase1 posted:Yes and a lot of the people I play poker with carry guns, some legally and some not. The godfather who I mentioned in the Wellington story would sometimes do a gun check at the cigar store if a new player who was vouched for showed up or he was holding a huge amount of money. I remember him being drunk on scotch one night, which is his drink of choice, and he put a player all in. As a joke he reached into his friends coat pocket next to him pulled out his gun pulled the trigger back and laid it on the table kind of joking and trying to intimidate the other player. I have never seen so many people freak out at once and just spread out running away from the table until the gun was taken back by it's owner. It's a funny story at the time but he could have killed someone and he received a huge stern lecture about it. There are several reasons why that whole anecdote is hosed but I'm glad nobody got shot. That time.
