I think the Chan story was one of the best yet. I love this thread as much as I love pool and movies about pool. I'm interested in knowing if you've ever played carom billiards? The first time I ever heard of it was in that kick rear end scene in "The Hustler" and then watched some of it on youtube and think it's pretty cool. Never came close to seeing a table for it though. I think I may like your poker stories more than the pool ones. It's a good thing I never got involved with high stakes gambling because I'd end up like Tito. Although after reading this thread I started making a bunch of stupid bets on pool and am still sitting about even, just a touch ahead. Makes playing so much more fun though.

I don't know, Pool Hall Junkies is easily the most entertaining pool movie I've come across and I have definitely watched my share. The acting is pretty bad, but that's standard for an indie movie and yeah it's a little cliched, but pretty much every sports movie is guilty of that. I must have watched it 40 or 50 times and never get tired of it.

Do you find that most of your pool hustling friends are good poker players? I know that the games are totally different, but I've always felt the biggest part of poker (other than calculating odds) is to play in a way that makes people put more money into the pot when you've got a strong hand. I imagine that that kind of thing would be a pretty natural transition from hustling pool. Like for example is your Uncle Frank a pretty good poker player as well?
