This is an amazing thread Jase, I read the entirety of it up to this point in one sitting. Are you planning on continuing with the stories or are you basically done? I'm a pretty good pool player myself (I was a good APA 7 when I stopped playing league) and I'm curious about a few of the comments you've made. You use a custom McDermott and I want to know if you've tried playing with any of their low deflection shafts (G-Core or any of the I-Shafts) or if you just prefer the straight maple shafts? What brand tip do you use? I love to gamble but I don't ever really hustle people and the action has completely dried up where I'm at. No one at any bars will play for more than drinks. Even at the pool hall my options are basically give up a big spot to play ten dollar sets against weak players which barely covers table time or play better players than me that won't give me more than a game on the wire for fifty or a hundred dollars. I'm jealous of the pool culture where you are. Any advice on how to drum up action? I'm at the point where I just play with my good friends for chump change instead of bothering to try and find a game.

Vanilla posted:Great thread that has me thinking of a pool situation I had a few months back (spots and stripes, general bar pool) which I can't find the answer to in the rule books.... If you are playing what is known as "Bar Rules" which you most likely were then you are poo poo out of luck and have to shoot from where the cueball lies. Basically any other set of rules will give you ball in hand any where on the table in that situation.
