Nah, he's going to get the gig playing himself on Punisher Pumice, and get just enough fear from little kids off of that to keep things running.

...oh god, that is terrifyingly believable.

I would say it's gotten better, which I am amazed can be the case.

I think she had a tweet (or a curiouscat ask, or something from some internet website) where she said something to the effect of: when she started the comic she kept close attention to how colors would look under different lighting and made careful palettes and such, but now she just used whatever colors she thinks look nice next to each other.

Hi everyone! Thank you for reading Cucumber Quest. I’d like to talk a little bit about the future of the comic. This will be kind of tough, but hear me out.

I’ll get right to the point: I can’t continue working on CQ as is. I don’t want to ramble about the details, but things are changing in my life, and I just don’t have the time or energy to keep this webcomic as my number-one priority going forward.

I know this will be disappointing to a lot of you, and I’m sorry. Please believe me when I say this wasn’t an easy decision to make. I’ve been trying to avoid writing this post for a long while, but it’s time for me to be honest with myself about what I’m capable of. So, page 931 will be the last page of this story in its current form.

Here’s the plan: Cucumber Quest is going on a lengthy hiatus. At the end of that hiatus, the story will be concluded in one big update–not as a comic, but in illustrated script format. If you’re wondering what that will look like, stay tuned! I’ve completed the remainder of Chapter 5 as an illustrated script, which you can read after this post.

Once again, thank you so much for reading my comic up to this point, whether you’ve been around for the past 8 years or you’ve just stumbled upon it today. It’s been a joy to share Cucumber with you, and I humbly ask for your patience until the very end.

See you there

It's likely more that it's a very time consuming thing, and that continuing work on CQ may have very well been taking time away from other, bigger projects.

It is a real shame though, especially since it seems like the comic ended just as poo poo Was Getting Real.

Maybe as a corollary to "don't plan 10+ year art projects" we should add "don't have the premise of your project depend on a series of big twists that won't actually come into play until after book five."
