I arrived to the UK just over 9 months ago, and this was one of my great surprises: flying from Edinburgh to London can cost up to a third of what a train ticket cost when buying tickets with a bit of anticipation. To this day, this stil boggles my mind. So how come airlines (specially the budget ones) have manage to reduce their costs so much below Rail travel? Or is it just Rail's costs that are bloated?
