Get a GTX670. 560Ti will be RAM limited at those resolutions, SLI wouldn't help much.

Any idea why adaptive vsync is not working with Diablo3 fullscreen windowed mode? It only works in fullscreen mode for some reason and i'd prefer to use adaptive mode instead of Diablo3 ingame vsync.

zer0spunk posted:Support for the 680 was just added in an update. I re ran an encode I did right before the switch from software to hardware. Software only (i7 3770k oc'd to 4.3) a 60 minute video being encoded to 480p from a mix of 1080i hdv and 1080p h.264 footage took 15 minutes..with hardware (gtx 680), 7 minutes. Yeah but quality of GPU encodes cannot compare at all with software encodes with a decent encoder like x264.

I get that coil whine noise in Minecraft and Skyrim and it's quite annoying, have to play with headphones on. No other game i play at the moment does that and I have no idea how to fix it but limiting fps helps.

Kramjacks posted:I have a 120hz monitor. In the Neverwinter MMO I set the refresh rate in the game's settings to 120 and it still caps out at 60. I'm using to Fraps to monitor my fps, maybe I should try something else? I'm almost certain that Neverwinter has a FPS cap setting set to 60, try checking troubleshooting section of video settings.

Nondescript Van posted:Does any other game recording software use the h.264 encoder on the newer nvidia cards or do i need to wait for that shadowplay thing to be release? I've tried a few but they kill my frame rate and MSI afterburner video is about 10 fps even though i told it 30 and then 60. Open Broadcaster Software uses x264.

You really shouldn't be ditching a SSD unless all you do is play games.

Does anyone have any experience with Gainward GeForce® GTX 970 Phantom 4GB? I can get one for about 50€ cheaper than other "cheap" 970s like Palit/KFA/Inno3d.

As much as people like to say AMD drivers are fine now, they've been nothing but a pain in the rear end on my laptop. It's an HP with i7, 8GB ram and AMD 6750M card in it and I've had a lot of issues with it. GTA5 for example still doesn't work at all, doesn't even launch. I really wish I'd gone with Nvidia mobile gpu. M On the desktop side I've gone from 8800GT->560Ti>660Ti>970GTX without major issues, the only really notable fuckup I remember was when they hosed up a driver update and removed termal throttling back in 8800GT days, had it running at 100C for a day before they released a fix. Made a decision to stay away for awhile after the amazing fuckup that was my ATI1950PRO card, and it's been working well for me.

At what speed should my GTX970 be running in desktop mode? It's running at 924mhz core/3506mhz memory which seems high when there's nothing running. I've 2 monitors and a TV connected to it.

Alereon posted:This is probably expected based on the number of monitors and their timings, in order to prevent graphical artifacts downclocking is reduced. What resolutions and refresh rates are they running at? 1920x1200 60hz 1440x900 60hz 1920x1080p 60hz TV I'm not running Shadowplay or Chrome or anything that uses HW acceleration as far as i know. It might be a Win10 issue, i'm almost certain that it didn't happen in Win8.1 E: looks like multiple displays are the problem, if I disable the other 2 displays the card clocks down to 135mhz or something like that. EoRaptor posted:Every Windows 10 that was upgraded from windows 7 or 8 has the same product key (for pro, it ends is 36VVT). The upgrade process submits a hardware id to microsoft, that then 'blesses' it for use with windows 10, so you can install as much as you like once you have finished the first upgrade. So how do I keep my copy of Win10 if I'm getting a new MB/CPU/RAM? Do i have to install Win8.1 and upgrade again?

I don't know about black friday deals but unless water cooling is a must I don't see a reason for buyin a 1070 MSI Sea Hawk for 560€ when you can get one of the cheap GTX1080 versions for like 600€.

I'm honestly not really worried about actual power usage; I have a Plex server running 24/7 that's powered by a Phenom II X4 840 processor It'd just be sweet if i could run 3 displays on my 1060 without it boosting clocks as I'd honestly prefer a 28-30C idle GPU temp over 40-45C. You can. I have 2x 24inch LCD connected to my GTX1070 and 1x HDTV connected to the iGPU of my 6700k CPU. The GTX 1070 is at 139 MHz core/202Mhz memory at idle.

It was kind of depressing playing Witcher 3 maxed out on my PC with 27inch IPS display, after playing it on in 4K HDR on my XboxOne X + 65'' Samsung Q90R with VRR. It just looks so much better on TV albeit with lower framerates.
