it's getting a graphics "overhaul" in version 7.0 which requires higher specs. has spiffy new technology like ambient occlusion! some of the new listed recs just make it sound like you need more vram to store the textures that no longer look like something outta minecraft though

cool to see that sony is experimenting with dedicated playstation crossplatform and crossplay support that supports playstation trophies for their pc ports: https://blog.playstation.com/2024/04/17/ghost-of-tsushima-directors-cut-pc-cross-play-and-system-requirements-revealed/ system requirements also don't look too terrible, and the game supports both fsr 3, xess 1.?, and dlss 3 nixxes doing great work, can't believe sony actually made a good business decision in acquiring them

devastating, vague rumours that nvidia might be working directly in league with the sff perverts: https://wccftech.com/nvidia-partners-create-new-sff-gaming-pc-ecosystem-powered-sff-enthusiast-geforce-gpus/ quote:We have learned that NVIDIA is working with its partners which not only include AICs (graphics card makers) but also chassis, PSU, manufacturers, etc, to put together components that are perfect for SFF builds. quote:NVIDIA will be laying out SFF guidelines which will be passed over to its partners & eventually help gamers build these compact PCs. The guidelines will include the creation of a standard for AICs & chassis manufacturers based on dimensions and clearances between enthusiast GPUs and SFF PC chassis. Following is the main description of the new ecosystem: maybe we'll have high-range cards that aren't the size of briefcases some day

if dragon's dogma 2 is using the re engine, then maybe i can start to see why monster hunter wilds isn't coming out this year after all which would be mhw all over again where they had to use the mt engine because they scrapped their soulslike that was supposed to have the next big panta rhei engine

At a distance of 50 cm away from the card, the noise level rises to 51.4 dBA, much higher than most models, including Colorful’s Ultra OC or even the NVIDIA Founder Edition. The noise level is a clear disadvantage of this design, but at least the fan will stop when the card is idle, so there is that. db chart: galax: 51.4(!!!) igame: 32.2 fe: 28.4

re8 had it in some nominal capacity, could be it's just lying around in the re engine from that. re2+3+7 also got it backported, but that was a bit of a mess. i think people also say to just turn it off in re4. i guess capcom's making some kind of attempt, but rarely a wholehearted one could also be capcom's been messing around with it for the ps5 pro where sony's supposedly pushing for raytracing (also please don't ever upload videos or do livestreams where you have clearly modded the game; capcom will strike that poo poo down like an angry god) kliras fucked around with this message at 16:01 on Apr 27, 2024 |

nvidia talking about "ai pc's", "premium" meaning "gpu" contra npu's here https://twitter.com/VideoCardz/status/1785609394496905447 which is largely whatever, but i wonder what they mean by "ai npc's" as a specific ai-powered gpu gaming feature here hopefully it's not the usual metaverse crap they keep showing, but time will tell computex is june 4-7

Gyrotica posted:When companies like Google are shoehorning "AI" into statements that have absolutely nothing to do with AI and everyone is promising the moon, I feel like anything referring to AI is simply just vague hype noise that conveys no information. before ai, people would call everything ml, and even then, a lot of was literally just bayesian inference which is literally centuries old would probably be fun to look like a line chart of .ml domains vs .ai, but it probably didn't help that all .ml domains ran into some issues when the ten-year license for selling them expired it's gotten to the point where you can't describe actual use of ai outside of npc pathfinding and enemy combat in videogamse, because everything surrounding the conversation is so toxic now, ironically

great to hear if capcom were able to unify all the engine branches instead of the disparate mess we're used to. probably would have been a more positive story if they didn't mess up a lot of performance when they did it with re 2+3+7
