Not to mention that Rasler's full-plate had huge gaps in the arms and throat

I will never know if SE was self aware about this, because the first thing that happens to him is getting an arrow on the throat. In the opening cutscene!

But then no one in Rabanastre realizes their soldiers died for their own stupidity.

Playing Final Fantasy X, who was the fucker who decided to have Dark Valefor block the way to the Jecht Sphere?

I know could have gone back earlier, but that would have been soooo loving boring.

Oh, that works? Ok, he's going down.

I'm not going to beat the Dark Aeons anyway, just want to get Auron's overdrives, Magus Sisters, and then i'll go beat Sin.

A bunch of cool stuff is blocked by Dark Aeons, getting the hidden item in Macalania if you forgot it first time is blocked by Dark Shiva so no Anima, or the Dark Magus Sisters blocking a bunch of Mushroom Rock. If you want to Zanbato them fight mimics in the Omega Caverns with a gillionaire piece of equipment and you get like 250K from each one an just pay Yojimbo 2M flatout and reload if he doesn't Zan.

I got off easy, only had to pay him 50k and it worked the first time, a good price for not having to bother with this bullshit.

I did remember to get all the destruction spheres and the Sun Crest though. But now my completionist brain just convinced itself to collect the celestial weapons, so Chocobo Racing here we goooo :smithicide:

Chocobo balloon time trial is awesome. Chocobo maze under the temple is actually the worst. Even if you can muddle through first or second try it's somehow still worse than fishing for decent balloon layouts.

Wrong.

The trick to FFX’s post game is to cheat to avoid all the tedious stuff.

Correct.

I do try to engage all of these minigames to see what's up though, and i ended up doing most of them fairly (as has been said, dodging lightning is super easy once you know the correct spot). But i straight up edited my save for Wakka's sigil. I'll gladly do Chocobo Racing a hundred times before i touch the complete tedium that is Blitzball again. I did it as a kid, i don't deserve more.

Only Chocobo Racing left to do now.

I mean, i agree that X gets lazy sometimes with the enemies, but at least most enemy types are tied to the character abilities and encourage you to use everyone.

I don't think it's that worse than other Final Fantasies where enemies look different but die the same way.

You only have to play through I think one season and 2 tournaments to get everything.

That's like, 16 games of Blitzball isn't it? 16 too many.

Meanwhile other Final Fantasies have "Goblin", "Bird", "Dog", "Dinosaur", "Demon" and the way to defeat them is use attack once with any frontliner.

I do agree that it's visually lazy, but disagree that it is mechanically worse than what the others offer.

So i started playing Zodiac Age, the last time i played this game was on the original PS2 version, and now i have to decide what classes i want.

I'm trying to use all 12 jobs while using combinations that reflect the characters somewhat. I'm pretty much already set on Shikari/Foebreaker for Vaan and Archer/Red Battlemage for Fran. For the others so far i have:

Balthier: Machinist/??? - Could go with Uhlan i guess? Lots of people choose White Mage but i don't see Balthier doing that.
Basch: Knight/Bushi - Seems pretty good, but i'm also considering giving Knight to Ashe.
Ashe: Time Battlemage/Black Mage or Time Battlemage/Knight - Knight mostly because she starts with a sword, plus it makes sense with her eventually wielding the Sword of Kings. TBM because of Revenant Wings
Penelo: White Mage/??? - White Mage because of Revenant Wings, and that leaves Monk and Black Mage as the only things left i guess.

I'm not trying to play optimally and i don't plan to fight any of the superbosses, but i don't want any spectacularly bad combinations either. Any ideas?

Final Fantasy 8 remake

Oh by the way, thanks to everyone who responded to me, i think i'll still go with Machnist/Uhlan on Balthier, and i'll make sure to get the Yagyu on my Shikari. On that topic, since i have to skip one of the ninja blade licenses, which one is the least essential?

Wait what, I haven't gotten that far yet into the job boards, before I screw myself what does that mean

Shikari has 4 Ninja Sword licenses, and they're all behind a different quickening each. Ninja Swords 4 unlocks the Yagyu Darkblade and the Mesa, the strongest ninja swords, but it's the farthest away from the start of the board, so if you already bought 3 quickenings before getting there you're poo poo out of luck.

You know what would be really cool?

If there was a way to make a steal gambit that detected when the enemy has no items to give anymore.

I have been running with "Foe HP = 100% -> Steal" but gently caress having to manually attack because your character will just keep trying to steal or aggro everyone.

Nope. Either put up with stealing from everything and having your teammates hit them with gambits or just remove stealing. You kinda don't need to be stealing everything as there's only certain bosses you want to steal from and you can get enough money from drops.

If you doing any kind of party with a caster you might only be able to get off one steal per fight.

It's just bizarre that stealing works that way when "Ally: Any -> Esuna" works the way it does. They clearly could have made it better.
