The Core is the subject of my favorite insultingly stupid movies physics review. Also holy poo poo it's been 10 years since the Core came out.

I saw the movie twice yesterday (my daughter likes repetition). He sticks the needle of love in Miao Yin's arm and then he bleeds from the same spot. His fingers aren't bleeding--he reached inside his robe to touch the part of his arm that mirrored where he'd stabbed Miao Yin, and he drew back bloody fingers.

Not sure if this counts as a "subtle" moment, but my wife noticed something the other day while she was watching John Wick again. When we saw it the first time, we just enjoyed the music, but she noticed that there's a point where the soundtrack literally spells out something that's going to happen later.

William Dafoe's character Marcus claims early on that he's a friend of John Wick, but later Marcus is hired to kill him. Cue Marilyn Manson: "We're killing strangers so we don't kill the ones that we love." Marcus and John are both making preparations to do some killing while it plays, so you might be forgiven thinking it's just a "time to kill people" song. But it's actually Marcus's theme, and plays again during an important scene he has later. It is telling the audience, point blank, that Marcus really is on John's side and will be killing the strangers who try to kill him.

Were people so distracted by han's death that they didn't notice Ren get shot or something? Do they somehow think being shot shouldn't have affected his performance when he holds his side throughout the fight and even hits the wound a few times in frustration over the distraction?. People are getting real hung up over this easy to explain thing.

Talking in the IIMM thread reminded me of something that was in Wonder Woman that I liked. The sniper says it's easier to shoot someone if you can't see their face. Then when he needs to countersnipe, he can't shoot because he sees the man's face.. So far so obvious, though I was almost impressed that someone in the movie didn't point this out out-loud. Later in the third act, he is shooting people left and right at close range but having no difficulties. This is at least in part because all the bad guys are wearing gas masks to protect them from the super alchemy death gas.

Again, "subtle" really only in the context of comic book movie. More like the movie version of the "little things in games" kind of thing.

Now he says he came from an overpopulated planet in the movie, implying there were really an awful, awful lot of people like him, but somehow he's the only one left. Maybe they worked on, like, Jet Li's The One rules and all the other titans dying made him into a god-titan. Or maybe all Titans were as buff as he is and he survived because he was some kind of god-tier doomsday prepper before he became an omnicidal spacelord and hid while the rest killed each other for scraps. Is Titan so hosed up because all the guys who were as bad rear end as him fought each other barehanded to the death or something and it was like 10 billion Hulks going berserk? How long ago did all this take place? If they didn't just go to space to fix their population problem, who uplifted Thanos? If they did go to space, where are they, and why did they gently caress their planet and their population up so bad?

Did he take exactly half of every species or half of all life in aggregate? I mean he didn't take half of Hawkeye's family, so some species groups may have been over-reaped compared to their over all population.

If the former, he definitely killed half the whales. And there are some endangered species that this would be the death knell of the species because they might not have enough breeding pairs left after the snap.

Pulpy is kind of like airport fiction. It is cheap trash that is written to be fun or eye catching but not deep. It comes from the cheap paper the magazines or books used to be printed on.
