Seeing the type of joy on people's faces when they pump up the bowl for the first time, or eat their very first set of snacks out of, is kind of like my friends faces below when we had a popcorn eating competition [ out of each others pants of course ], at my sisters Stag and Doe this fall. It's just so much fun! ... And practical!

"Our ultimate goal is to not require recharging. If we are unable to reach that goal we have a few back up plans. One of which is a wireless charging solution and the other is an innovative kinetic charging system that will use the motion of the device itself to recharge the batteries. Again these are back up plans and our goal now is to make charging not required."

Also, love how it plays the classic "as seen in the news" trick of negative, harsh reviews as press coverage. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/02/03/crystal_wash_orbs_kickstarter/ http://www.digitaltrends.com/home/crystal-wash-2-laundry-ball/

it's more tamper-resistant in that it has a read-only / mount and is cryptographically verified by our ostree setup. it would be much more difficult to write a traditional virus for than windows. we also don't allow the user to run randomly downloaded executables from the web / email. the system is more locked down in that way.

it doesn't run android, and the reason it's a full desktop computer is because that's exactly what it should be: a full desktop computer it's actually intel-based (so you can run skype and steam and dropbox and flash and...), the performance isn't lovely like your smartphone would be if you try to run a 1920x1200 desktop on it like microsoft and canoncial think you totally can (we tried that, trust us) the reason it's got a funny large computer is because when we did user testing, that's the case design and product size people wanted the most. they want a computer they can feel proud about owning, that they can show off to their neighbors with. people actually infer how powerful a computer is from the size, so when we did research with a dinky little box and case, everybody passed by it. "it's not a real computer". that sort of computer is also invisible in store shelves. the ufoputer is designed to be big enough and wacky enough to seem powerful and sell. happy to answer any other questions you have about it! was actually waiting for my kickstarter to be mocked in this thread.
