I think I'll add Summit Point to the list of tracks that I never want to run at. I haven't seen the layout, but it seems like a gross oversight to have unprotected trees in an area that can collect cars.

Summit Point has a few tracks. This GTO incident was on Jefferson. Summit Point main isn't as dangerous; though it also has its spots. But they are in slow sections. There is runoff/escape road at the end of the main straight and the high speed sections.

I'll be up at Lime Rock Park at the end of July for some more HPDE/TT/Races with IMG Racing. Two day event from July 25th-26th at one of my favorite tracks.

Come check out the EVSR Electric Racecar. The two of them will be there running in the races and if you race, you can get the chance to duke it out wheel to wheel and see how your car compares.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b6dNweJha4 <- racing with some SCCA Spec Racer Fords at LRP.

100% fewer totaled race cars compared to NASA and just as fun.

There is a discount store near me that has a couple of helmets that are open box returns. How can I tell what standard they meet? They both have boxes with them.

They should have a sticker inside the helmet somewhere. You may have to peel back padding.

Has anyone competed in any of the AER events yet?

Thank you for the advice on gear to bring goons.

Found this little website:
http://winhpde.com/

It's neat someone took the time to compile a pretty comprehensive guide to HPDE.

The guy who made that website, Oleg is a great person. I've been on track with him at EMRA and IMG. Very meticulous guy and always has a notebook taking notes about things he observes while on track.
