My Dad's Nokia C6 likes to freeze at random. Fido seems to be ignoring my questions about updating its firmware, what else can I do?

Contingency Plan posted:This is probably a stupid question but I don't have much experience with this kind of thing: My three-year contract with Rogers has expired and I'm on month-to-month billing with them, and I'm on their waitlist for an iPhone 5. Would I be in a better position to haggle a retention plan now or after I get the iPhone and sign on for a new contract? It would have been better to try and get a retention plan before your contract ended...

Does Mobilicity really not let you transfer 604 numbers to them? I don't want to lose my number but I want the $30 plan.

I'm looking for a prepaid service in BC for my mom. Fido used to be $0.30/minute but it looks like they jumped up to $0.40... She just wants something that she can put $10 into and not worry about it. Any suggestions?

That's a good point. I'm pretty sure she'd just call me and my Dad. Possibly just receive our calls honestly. Thanks guys. Additional feedback/suggestion welcome!

So I have a plan from Fido that's basically their $30 plan but for $25. That's going to expire in March... or at least the $7 credit for voicemail. Any ideas on what I can do to keep it?

Asian male reporting in. I always heard Jackie Chan helped fund Aberdeen Centre. Wonder if there's any truth in that rumour. E: is there any plan around $25/mo for voice out there? Acer Pilot fucked around with this message at 07:08 on Feb 12, 2014 |

Wild EEPROM posted:Voice only, there's a rogers plan; $30/mo for 200 minutes, unlimited text, caller ID, voicemail, -$3/mo for bringing your own phone = $27. Bah. Old plan was that but $25 but now they said that our credits have "expired."

So Fido apparently let me renew my dad's contract for him. Before he had 2 $7 discounts but now it's apparently a $5 and $7 discount. - 200 minutes - unlimited evenings and weekends starting at 5PM (renewal bonus) - voicemail - unlimited local calling between Fido subscribers - 2500 text messages - call display (through $7 credit) - a mysterious $5 (used to be $7) For a total of $30.24/month after taxes. Is this a good retention plan? Did we get screwed? They also want him to pay $25 to get one of these phones for "free": - HTC Desire - Samsung Galaxy S III Mini - Galaxy Ace II X I have a Nexus 5 personally but my dad won't let me buy him one. Which would be a good phone for him? His only specification was that it be black He basically just likes to look at websites on his current crap phone (a Nokia thing with a keyboard). Thanks for your help goons.

I may be working in Seattle next year for a few months and want to bring my phone with me. Would Wind's free US roaming be a good idea?

Evis posted:I believe US roaming was only included with one of the promo plans that has expired. It's normally a $15 add on, but yes it seems like it would be worth it. I haven't personally used the roaming in Seattle so I can't speak to its quality. Ah, OK. I guess there's also google voice.

I'm interested in that too. It's cheaper than what my office is offering me. http://www.zoomerwireless.ca/rate-plans/individual-plans/ Do I actually need to be a senior citizen though?

Does anyone happen to know if corporate plans with Rogers are month to month or is it a 2 year contract? My office has some plan with 6gb but it's like $56 before tax which seems super expensive. I'm leaning towards Wind right now since I feel like I want data but am hearing mixed opinions about their coverage.
