RIP SK Plan.

Koodo now has this on the terms for new activations:

"Rate plan available for Manitoba and Saskatchewan residents only. Subscribers who move to another province will be migrated to a rate plan available in that province with similar services at the monthly rate plan then available."

Which I assume means they'll migrate you to the $90 equivalent plan once you change address or number.

how do they know you have moved? billing address change? phone number port? or actual tower usage?

having an sk number isn't really a big deal when you have unlimited long distance
having an sk billing address isn't a big deal when everything is electronic

and there is no way they'd check tower usage, they warned me they would check when I signed up more than a year ago but i knew that was an empty threat

buying a phone from a carrier outright should mean it comes unlocked

^^^6p is an excellent phone and if you're on a budget you can't really go wrong with almost any flagship that's more or less a year old.

Probably not the place for this derail, but what exactly makes it significantly better than the oneplus 3? They both got rave reviews, they both perform similarly in processor tests, they both have top of the line cameras, they're both pretty similar in size, battery, and hardware (with the oneplus edging the pixel in ram, arguably camera, and battery life wile the pixel's slightly newer processor performs slightly better in all performance teats I've seen, and both sporting identical GPUs, nearly identical displays, and beyond the newer os and fancy voice commands the pixel sports, neither boasting any significant feature differences)

I agree that you can't just look at specs, but you're making it sound like I'm comparing a phone from a couple gens ago to a newly released flagship.

An android phone made by a third party will always be buggier than a google phone. The process of customizing android to run on a oneplus 3 requires oneplus programmers to write thousands of extra lines of code that will invariable add bugs. The next version of android is being developed on a pixel right now, even if oneplus releases android 8.0 one day after google releases it, the pixel will have several months more of testing and polish.

Sometime a 3rd party can add features, and fix bug in android but for the most part they make it more buggy and less secure.

Not on the low end. It's literally impossible to get a $10/gb ratio with prepay under $50. It's typically half that or worse, with Rogers being way, way worse ($60/1gb)

The Public Mobile Plan was $120 every three months for 12gb, with discounts for referrals, autopay, and per year of service. At my current discount level it comes to $34/month (I need more referrals :( ).
And for their sin of benefitting the consumer, they were consigned to have only 3g data speed for new customers ever since.

Rogers delenda est

You can with fizz, you just have to lie about your address if you're not in Quebec or Ottawa.

Looks like Fizz is finally enforcing "you need to live in our our service area" on my account. Oh well it was good while it lasted so long 5GB LTE with roll over for 31.50+tax.

Freedom mobile is probably the cheapest right now, 1GB for $24, 3GB $29, 10GB $34 for 4G.

Now that financing an iPhone from Apple has 7.99% interest carrier plans seem less bad.

People trot out the Canada is so big line, but really half the population lives 100km from the board from Windsor to Montreal and don’t go out side that. Data is not the expensive and radio tech just keeps getting better.

Also the gently caress, apparently Bell's tablet/laptop "connected device" plans are rate limited at 512kbps.

I REALLY need to start looking for a new carrier. The only reason I'm still with Bell for mobility is that I just pay them a big pile of money for a bunch of services and they provide me a diverse set of ways to access pornography in one bill.

I just use my credit card to pay every recurring bill I can, then it’s just one bill. If I had more of a buffer I’d setup my credit card to withdraw the full balance from my bank automatically.
