I changed two of our plans to the Telus promo voice/data 65 plan too - one had been recently renewed with a hardware upgrade at the end of June and customer care did it no questions asked when I called in about it. The other one was renewed back in 2011 and they didn't give me any grief about changing it, although they did have to have a retention/loyalty agent make the exception for the change.
