The man's nothing if not resilient; who knows what will happen once the heat dies down.

He's also had a long track record of working behind the scenes through proxies, and the voting public may be uncertain as to his ability to take a more prominent role. This is only supposition on my part, though.

He has two mistresses, an illegitimate kid, he took months to visit his home prefecture after 3/11 and he is Ozawa.

The fact he has some semblance of career is testament to how awful every other loving politician is in this country. Abandon hope.

I can't prove it, but old men who feel obligated to vote as that's a duty.

Farmers who are encouraged to vote by a local leader for the people giving them the most subsidies (LDP)

I think thats the entire political system accounted for.

The important thing to remember is that President Lee is deeply unpopular, maybe even more so than usual leaders in the two countries.

Lee is trying to do some nationalist garbage to boost his popularity, the Japanese are doing the same but from their more common reflexive position, as no Japanese politician has any ideas.

The diplomat will be back after Obon, like the other times they recalled the ambassador (at tax payer expense) for a couple days.

There are anti nuclear protests every Friday downtown. Some have had incredibly huge numbers.

Most of the non right wing politically minded are more naturally drawn to that.

And it isn't only China that they are at loggerheads with. There is the issue with Korea, problems with the government and conflict over American hardware deployment.

The Japanese Finance Ministry has been burning money at a record rate trying to stop the strong yen, with as much effect as anything else they do.

I don't think there is a single useful politician here, and that isn't a loving exaggeration. Japan is a case study in how to fail and it is all because of the elected leadership and the bureaucracy and vested interests around them. Countries should study Japan so they can best learn how to avoid all the mistakes.

I don't find any of that cynical.

Why did his party want him back after his disastrous time as Prime Minister?

I don't think anyone is surprised at how dire the political choices are anymore. I cackled about it when I heard but even Twitter was quiet. He is a terrible choice, he quit because of making GBS threads too much previously (slightly more complex), but that only makes him as bad as every other choice out there.

What we got... Hashimoto, Ishihara (any), Ozawa, Maehara...

It is dire.

It's not as much the money in commercials (important too no doubt) but the freedom for directors.

Comparing to US TV, there's stuff like 30 Rock. Just not the same.

But the thing that really gets me about the TV is the low production values on any drama. It's worse than 1980s Canadian TV.

Urawa had a very strong season last year and generally finish pretty high. They have a much lower number of foreign players than before, just the long serving Brazilian Marcio Richardes who is pretty popular. We did sign Tadanari Lee who having just played for Southampton in the BPL isn't a bargain signing. So I don't really understand the above comment.

I'm a supporter and when I go I sit in that section so I was pretty concerned about how this would play out but am pretty happy with the reaction of the league and club.

I've never had major problems there and the banner was done by a supporters group which is by no means representative. The leaders of some of these groups like to be the focus and show off and direct the other people. That doesn't work so well with a lot of foreigners who come for a game or two and it's probably where the resentment comes from in my opinion.

Also lots of these foreigners who come will wear any football jersey which is petty stupid and annoying but clearly these racist were idiots.

Also, they stated that the Stadium was Holy Ground to them. I guess they never knew it was built for a World Cup.
