From Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic, a problem with the character scripting:

The game would do poo poo like this all the time during testing. One thing I miss was a big glitch gag reel they made that's similar to the Octodad one posted earlier where they showed a whole bunch of ridiculous stuff that happened way early in development.

Things like landing from a jump causing the character to pancake to the ground like a cartoon, hitting random on the character creation screen and turning into a box, an NPC in a cutscene running around on fire in the background until exploding into a giant torrent of blood, etc.

They stopped letting people copy the video off of the shared drives, and unfortunately I didn't get it before they did.

One day during testing, that started happening in regular gameplay. HeroEngine has some of the weirdest goddamn bugs.

This sort of thing happens in TF2 sometimes when your graphics card is making GBS threads the bed. The results can be incredible.

This was posted in the Awful Game Mods thread, but it definitely belongs here. It's basically what happens when you smack a bunch of bizarre Fallout: New Vegas mods together and see the Gamebryo engine implode on itself.

In Super Monday Night Combat, there was a crazy bug for a while where (IIRC) if you went into the inventory of a character, then to the main menu, and went back to the customize screen, the default selected character would suddenly have the skeleton of the last one visible.

Someone in the thread for the game got a massive gallery of this happening to multiple characters, I wish I could find it because it really hosed with some of the other ones.

I had a good one in Dead Island just after it game, got that game was a mess. I was playing 4 player co-op and we entered some cut scene where a supporting characters father was dying/ just died and it was supposed to be a very sad affair. Probably would have been if there wasn't one of the characters in the background constantly running against the wall.

An amazing one happened during ChipCheezum and snarkcookie's stream of the game.

I've never even played Dead Island and we don't even sound alike... :( I don't know why I keep getting the credit for things snarkcookie has done!

I got it confused since you did so many videos with Chip already. :shobon: I've fixed it now.

Whenever you skip parts of dialogue in The Old Republic's cinematics, it'll occasionally goof up and try to stack several animations onto each other. Like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiczLzXRIjQ

I remember at BioWare they made this big blooper reel video of insane poo poo the engine did early in development. Things like landing from a jump causing your character to temporarily squish into a pancake, NPCs in cinematics randomly exploding into a bloody mess, and hitting randomize in the character creator turning them into a crate. It's a shame I didn't get a copy of it.

That reminds me of playing Oblivion on a really really hard difficulty and going up against archers. You'd need to wail on them so long you'd end up having like 50 arrows sticking out of you. 1/3 of them would be at odd angles in random places, 2/3 of them would be in your dick.

After the Sniper got a bow and arrow in TF2, they reused part of the design when they gave the Medic a crossbow, which both does damage when hitting enemies and heals your teammates if you hit them with it. That means you can continually shoot a teammate and make them look like a human pin cushion. :buddy:

In any case, I started playing through Dead Space 3 on PC, and while it's generally pretty fun, you can tell it's one of those cases where the developers were under pressure to make a bigger game than they were comfortable with. Because it's pretty drat buggy. I took an elevator into a room just under the one I was in, and the whole thing didn't load in until I went out and came back in. Also it leads to gems like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_Hx043D_0E

A save/load pass (quitting out and loading back in every time there's an autosave) is supposed to prevent this sort of thing, but I guess they didn't have time!

The only problem with using corruption programs is that it takes a ton of trial-and-error to find a combination of code alterations that doesn't result in either a) the game not even starting up or b) it crashing almost instantly. I tried messing around with the program that Vinesauce guy uses, and even with NES games it takes a while to get any funny results.

Speaking of texture issues, TF2 will go occasionally go crazy for people with dying video cards or OS compatibility issues. The textures on virtually everything will become mixed up. Here's a video of it happening:

Since it's a Source engine game, you can climb onto some small objects by walking at one of their corners. It was actually pretty easy to get out of bounds in the monitor room by doing that, it's just a shame there isn't like an easter egg by breaking the game like that.

The PC version of TF2 also has 360 controller support, and it's actually pre-programmed with different speeds based on how far you tilt the joystick. Which is entirely pointless considering there's never any reason not to be going at top speed at all times in TF2.

But it's great for picking Scout with, and moving so painfully slowly that your whole team will start actively trying to push you to the objective.
