lovely song parody! posted:Game glitch, speeds by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j7LtCKHfec&t=25s OK basically what's happening here is a simple malfunction of the Hedgehog Engine, the rendering engine used in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations. The Hedgehog Engine uses planes and splines coded into the level to queue up texture-loading, designed so that as long as the player passes through the texture-loading section, even at top speed, the textures will load for the next section of the level. Surprisingly for a game that's all about speed, this works quite well; even the impossible speeds frequently achieved in Sonic Unleashed rarely break this system when following the natural layout of the level. Load-times are managed effectively and the game looks really pretty because of the high-quality art assets. However, if the player can avoid the texture-loading splines, the textures and mappings... don't load. Some common elements remain and all collision is intact, but beleave it or not, Sonic's running on air!
