The thing is that Kirito / Kazuto is the typical harem anime protagonist. He being a lady magnet comes with the whole (foul-smelling) package.

At this point we should be grateful on the fact that they decided to make him commit to a monogamous relationship with Asuna, as opposed to what other shows of this ilk try to do.

Also seconding on Klein being The best. :3:

I really doubt we will get Mother's Rosario. If GGO isn't long enough to fill a full season, my guess would be Excalibur. I remember GGO was pretty long, and Mother's Rosario also having a decent length. If they try to do both, it will just be another time crunch.

The only good thing about Rosario is that Asuna gets more fleshed out as a person. It's dull otherwise. I hope they skip right from GGO and maybe the Excalibur Alfheim extra stuff to alicization.

I'm well aware of all the reasons and stuff. But the events will take place mainly inside of GGO, so he's gonna look like that for 90% of the screen time.

the fact that his sugoibrain is so 1 in a million that he manifests as the most sugoi avatar someone can have, so pretty and amazing and perfect that he crosses androgyny and straight into genderswapping is a loving masterstroke. Or at least, it would be if it wasn't purely unironic.

You're forgetting the part where not only is this stupid is hell, it's also highly plot-relevant for reasons that are actually even stupider.

GGO is pretty much the best thing ever and I've been talking about it to my friends for awhile. I think a lot of them never fully believed me tho so this is going to be absolute perfection.

Eh. IIRC I thought he just randomed it. You can convert a character from any SEED based MMO to another one, and it randoms a model for you to use loosely based off of your previous characters stats and total Play Time. Kirito got a hyper rare one as he had over 10,000 hours played.

How is that Japan fanservice poo poo? It's still a Male character model just a "rare" model that players know about but few have seen.

Yeah I just glanced through that part. He literally just randomed a rare male character model that looks like that, For plot reasons it's convenient as hell later on, along with leading to the inevitable OMG your a guy moment but it really wasn't that creepy.

Turns out the last 20 minutes or so is new content. It is an ALO quest with the whole gang, kind of like the Caliber side story.

Kirito looking a bit feminine comes up a few times prior to GGO but they run full steam with it there and there's a fair amount of creepy 'my waifu kirito' fans that were more than happy with his look in gun gale.

That and the excuse for him being a super elite player off the bat aside, it's a cool storyline and features a group that they really need to go back and do a full story arc on

seriously. An arc about the laughing coffin both during Sao and their actions once freed would be amazing regardless of whether it'd include the stuff already written involving people like xaxa. It's basically a group of serial killers and some of the. Clearly didn't rehabititate after being saved.

Usagi Drop and Bokurano are my go-to examples for one medium being vastly superior than the other for the sane work.

Bokurano is my favorite manga, but the anime director went insane and rewrote the ending into infinite shittiness.

Usagi Drop was an adorable anime with a great story. But woe be to you who would try to pick up the back half in the manga. There be dragons. And by dragons, I mean a Japan-shaped box of NOPE!

Actually if they are doing a season 2 there is a lot more side stories then just Calibur that they can animate now.

There is A Spot of Sunshine in the Winter taking place before Calibur. The Day After which would take place before the events of Extra Edition. The Celeste Fairy which takes place just after the Fairy Dance section, same with another story Salvia. They can also if they wanted to stick in the Pencil Board story for a little extra fanservice which takes place during the SAO arc but could be told as a short flashback.

So all in all they have like 6 side stories they can animate to fill the season out. The amount of extra content could be stretched out to approx 8 extra episodes.

They could even do the Versus story and tie the series into Accel World.

Sadly there is fanservice in all of those side stories so there is no need to shoehorn it in.

Calibur = every character fanservice
A Spot of Sunshine in the Winter = Silica fanservice
The Day After = Asuna Fanservice
The Celeste Fairy = Suguha + Yui fanservice
Salvia = Suguha fanservice
Pencil Board story = Asuna + Lisbeth hotspring fanservice

"This one's only practice. The real sword I intend to forge will be three times longer."

"Can there really be a sword as monstrous as that in this world?"

"Yes. I can see that sword... Somewhere out there..."
There's no real overarching plot; GGO has strong plot call-backs to SAO and everything else up to Alicization is a side story from the two years in SAO or the SAO/ALO combined world after Fairy Dance.

Then there's Alicization, which has its own long plot and an almost-entirely new cast. It's very much its own thing.

Loosely.

There are call backs to ALO, and SAO in GGO. Kirito is essentially guilted into going and investigating GGO. Because of something that happened after SAO.
