I was out on the bike and decided to throw the camera around my neck and try a few settings...

Have to devise a way to aim it up a bit more.

Anyone got some advice on a good lens for action night shots?

There's a free-to-watch drifting night at my local track and I shot 600ish photos and had these ones be the best of them.

Pics: http://imgur.com/a/ZQntT

Shot on Canon 550D with a Tamron 18-270 3.5-6.5 with stabilisation.

Next time I go I will have a media pass so I can get closer, so reach won't really be an issue (these were all shot between 50-80mm), but I feel like I'm still gonna need a faster lens. I also want to get it under 6400 ISO if possible.

I have a nifty fifty but I've been told it'll just be blurry mess at low f-stop.

Was thinking canon 60mm macro as I would get extra use out of that shooting flowers for my girlfriend but the 100mm f2 canon seems like a better lens for the car stuff (and for daylight events) perhaps.

Shooting night action with a slow lens is definitely an uphill battle. Really the best fix is a faster lens, that lower aperture gives you the light for that faster shutter. You can get some speed back with a slow lens bumping up the iso if your body can do it well. Personally Ill take some grain over blur though. I shot some night rally last year and it was rough. But I also had no lights in the middle of the woods so I had to bust out the flash which was another can of worms. I was only able to get a couple decent shots.

Back to contribute again, back in November I rented a 70-200 2.8, to shoot the Baja 1000, it was glorious. Forgive me if this turns into image spamming...

Any good tips for good motorsports photography, I'm off to the F1 next weekend and am planning on giving it a shot.

I've got a Fuji Xpro1 and will probably be using my 55-200 on it. Given the glacial focus speed I'm thinking I'll need to manual focus and pick my spots beforehand and wait for the car to get into shot. Same idea with panning too I guess, been practising that on my balcony.

It was good, first time at the F1 which made it pretty cool. Photgraphy wise i can see why pros use Nikon D4s with super fast burst rates etc... it was quite hard to get any decent shots but I'll try and post a few in the next couple of days.

I was randomly strolling with my camera in the new town that I just moved to and stumbled across a classic car rally just down the street from my apartment. I took a bunch of normal photos then got bored of doing bumper-height 3/4 shots while waiting for everyones' fat kids to stop climbing all over the car I was trying to photograph, so I started shooting details.

I can't decide which bike to add to the stable next. I had initially planned on the new LC BMW1200GSA since my current BMW has treated me so well, but after test riding these two beasts, I'm having a tough time.
