He's really asking for it by phrasing his point like that:

quote:

"It's been a trend for me," Rodgers said. "I arrived here having worked at a big club before. I had four-and-a-half terrific years at Chelsea. And I'd certainly seen enough games at that level to see that sometimes the big clubs do get the decisions.

"I came here, to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and in my opening period, we haven't got a thing. So I just wanted to ask the question and put my point across. And Mike was excellent. He's doing a terrific job, because being head of the referees is not easy."

That shirt is actually referencing a quote from critically acclaimed 1986 film Blue Velvet, although apparently several others have used it since then. Can't look at that face and think he went with the antiquated film reference rather than "Hmm, this is vulgar, I'll take it" though.

Yeah I seriously don't get this. He has 50 caps for Spain while Arteta has 0. Who exactly was he hidden from?
From the big teams? He only moved to Malaga last season, which was itself hardly a big team. If you read the article the interviewees mostly express regret he's playing in Spain, which is a real bummer for top players if you can't get into Madrid or Barca.

I don't understand what you're going on about. He has not been hidden to anyone who has ever followed anything to do with La Liga. Villarreal wasn't exactly the equivalent of MK Dons while he was there. He could have gone to any number of clubs that were willing to shell out the money for him at the time. Malaga didn't exactly buy him for a cheap price.
Is it so hard to understand that he never got the chance to play in the Champion's League. He's been underexposed. That's literally all I meant by "hidden". If you guys are so keen to hop on the "sperglord who doesn't watch La Liga" accusation, just consider a La Liga watcher who, until this season, never got to watch Luka Modric. It's always a pity when the best players don't play on the biggest stage.

His criteria for "wide play" includes the number of times the full-backs touch the ball in the final third. That doesn't really mean anything and I'm not sure if it tallies with the conventional idea of "wide" play, which should encompass only the other criterion included: crosses as a percentage of passes.
