We've seriously gone through two pages and no one's mentioned the Band? The first three albums are some of the best music ever recorded. Also three of the most passionate singers I've ever heard. Four Canadians and one Arkansan playing soul-inflected Appalachian music. Can't go wrong (until Robbie Robertson became a douche and hosed over his bandmates). Seconding Ryan Adams. Also, Steve Earle is brilliant and puts on a hell of a live show.
