Nickel Creek recently surprised everyone by announcing a new album and limited run tour. They've released two of the songs on YouTube and they still have the magic:

The album comes out on April 1st, but it's not a joke.

I've got my tickets for Nickel Creek w/ Secret Sisters in Denver on May 13th. I was lucky enough to see Nickel Creek twice (once in 2000 at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, once on their Farewell For Now Tour in 2007) and I'm really excited to see them back together.

Makes me jealous, by the time I heard about the reunion tickets had sold out in Oakland. I've seen Chris in concert 3 times, Sara 2, but never together.

Since they're apparently touring the entire length of Tennessee here in two weeks, I guess I should ask the thread: is it worth going to see The Avett Brothers live? I'm a fan of their older music especially but I'd still have a good time unless it's literally just material from their last two albums.

I've seen them live twice, but I'm not sure I'd go again either. Last time, their set was mostly stuff off the new albums, which I didn't like nearly as much as some of their older work. Still, as long as tickets aren't too expensive, you could do worse. They have great stage presence.

The new hurray for the riff raff album is going to be... not fantastic. The new tracks have been pretty bad live, and the singer has fired most everybody who worked with her over the years past few years. Alynda always had a bit of an ego, but she's told some really talented people to gently caress off lately.

That's too bad, I really dig the single she released off the album. Hopefully they find a way to make it work.

Lindi Ortega is another artist in that vein.

She's currently trying to Kickstart her next album, too.
