If you don't listen to her already you should definitely try Neko Case. Not only is her solo stuff great but she's a member of The New Pornographers.

She has a gorgeous voice and her last album Middle Cyclone is just stellar. The only bad thing is that her last album came out in 2009. She has been working on a new one, but I have no idea when it's coming out. It feels like she's been talking about the recording of it on twitter for a year.

Here's her singing the lead off track from Middle Cyclone on Letterman:

I need to go back and listen to that album again, I only really listen to Fox Confessor and Middle Cyclone nowadays.

What's everyone's opinion on the newest Lucero album? I don't dislike it, but after a couple listens there no tracks that really grab me yet. A couple more listens might turn one up, but as of right now I like it more than there first two albums but not as much as any of their others.

Listen to Neko Case's new album The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You in its entirety on NPR.

It's really good! Even better than I thought it was going to be, and now I'm even more impatient for it to come out.

Jonny Fritz (formerly Jonny Corndawg) is fantastic. Saw him open for Langhorne Slim (not a fan at all) back in October and he was terrific. Most fun I've had during an opening act possibly ever. Live it was him on acoustic guitar and another guy switching between fiddle, electric and stand up bass, and acoustic guitar. Studio has a much fuller sound, and it is just as great.

Trash Day is my favorite of his

Holy Water is another great one.

Two of his albums as Jonny Corndawg are also available on his website for streaming, and they are both great as well!

Does he still do that silly song about Bear Claws and Bear Laws?

I interned at a concert venue in 2010 and he was one of the acts who played. Really nice dude, like really nice and really happy to be there opening for, I think, Lucero. He was really excited about his merch which included homemade leather belts and t-shirts that he screen printed himself with random images. He also gave a coworker his business card which I believe listed his talents as "Leatherworking, Pet Portraits, Country Music" in that order.

I saw iron and wine play in 2012 and I feel like I would be giving him too much credit if I said it was one of the worst, most disappointing live performances I've ever seen. My friend I went with literally fell asleep.

I saw them after Kiss Each Other Clean came out and it was ridiculously amazing, he had backup singers and a horn/strings section and multiple guitarists and multiple drummers. It was amazing.

I saw them again last summer and it was just 4 guys all acoustic and I enjoyed it but I would be lying if I said I didn't almost fall asleep. He did play Love Vigilantes which is my favorite cover that he does so that made my night.
