Jonny Fritz (formerly Jonny Corndawg) is fantastic. Saw him open for Langhorne Slim (not a fan at all) back in October and he was terrific. Most fun I've had during an opening act possibly ever. Live it was him on acoustic guitar and another guy switching between fiddle, electric and stand up bass, and acoustic guitar. Studio has a much fuller sound, and it is just as great.

Trash Day is my favorite of his

Holy Water is another great one.

Two of his albums as Jonny Corndawg are also available on his website for streaming, and they are both great as well!

Does he still do that silly song about Bear Claws and Bear Laws?

I interned at a concert venue in 2010 and he was one of the acts who played. Really nice dude, like really nice and really happy to be there opening for, I think, Lucero. He was really excited about his merch which included homemade leather belts and t-shirts that he screen printed himself with random images. He also gave a coworker his business card which I believe listed his talents as "Leatherworking, Pet Portraits, Country Music" in that order.

Haha that is fantastic! He was walking through the crowd selling his cd's and just chatting people up, seemed like a genuinely happy guy. He does indeed still play the Bear Song, and it was great.

You guys were right talking about English Oceans. I've streamed it a few times now (it's right here for a limited time - http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2014/02/album-stream-drive-by-truckers---english-oceans.html) and it's drat good. I think its the best thing they've put out in a very long time.

I really, really like Made Up English Oceans. I'm so excited to finally see them again in April. I saw Patterson Hood at one of his residency shows in Portland in January and wanted Cooley up there so bad at times, so I'm really excited to see the full band together.

If you haven't checked out The Head and the Heart, their latest release, Let's Be Still is very very good.

My favorite tracks on it are these two:

The video for Another Story is amazing.

Their first album is one of my favorites, I absolutely love it. But Let's Be Still, while good, seems very repetitive to me. I've listened to it 6+ times through and maybe one song stands out, everything else kind of sounds the same (not a bad sound, just too similar). I was pretty let down. It's not bad, it just is nowhere near what I expected based off their debut.

I am hit and miss on his music, but do not miss an opportunity to see him live. Amazing live show (he is an artist that translate so much better on stage), and he has my favorite banjo player, David Moore, to watch perform. The guy is literally a hangbanging banjo player.

Huh, I saw him last year, completely unfamiliar with the music, and it was far and away the worst concert I have seen in years. Every song sounded the same and his guitar was so overpowering you legit could not hear the piano or bass. Just the drums and his guitar, and it was terrible. The openers were phenomenal (that's where I discovered Jonny Fritz, which I mentioned earlier in the thread) and their sound wasn't bad so I can't really blame the venue. I was totally let down :(

Ryan Adams is still sober. He posts regular updates about it on his Instagram.
