Bikini strings are textures instead of a 3D bit moving around, there's no tanning system, there's no swimsuit slipping (more on that below) and in general it's lower resolution.  Actually I'm kinda amazed there wasn't a post about the "gameplay" so I'll take a shot at it. Players pick one of the 9 girls chosen in a paid Japanese vote. A cutscene then plays showing the girl having a brief narration about how beautiful the island is and that's all of the plot for the game. A menu then appears with the option of going to two stores or one of the beaches on the island. There is a choice of several mini games to play, all with no multiplayer mode (there was local multiplayer in the first release, online in the second game,) gifting items to a girl, or just watching the chosen girl relax. The mini game choices offered are Pool Hop, Butt Battle, Tug of War, Rock Climbing, Beach Flags, and Volleyball. The first three are only available at the pool location. There are no stats involved and it's just about pressing buttons at the right time or just plain luck. During the events in the pool, several swimsuits slip as a damage state, making the girl use one of her arms to hold on to a bikini strap (or for some reason a strap for a very covering one piece swimsuit they could have just slid up and been OK) After two events, it becomes night time and Casino games become available. They can be played until the player selects the sleep option. The only real addition to the game has been a new mode called "Owner Mode" that can be activated at any time during the girl's vacation. The player gets their own share of money and access to an "Owner Shop" with the ability to use real world money to buy in game swimsuits, limited time swimsuits (not exactly DLC, but included in monthly updates and can be bought with in game money,) or get more powerful versions of items available in "Girl's Mode." The game works mostly the same as before but the mini games are played by the computer so the player can take pictures and items purchased have to be gifted. A recent update added a special wrapping paper for real world money purchasers to guarantee acceptance by the recipient, complete with a "I'll change into the swimsuit right now. No Peeking" event reserved for high affection levels. Playing on a Japanese or Asian account is required to do anything with money, although any PSN DLC (like the swimsuits included in a physical copy) just needs to be claimed on the Asia/JP account. What's the motivation to continue playing the game? Missions. Throughout the game, players are given missions such as "Win pool hopping 2 times," "Give an item/swimsuit to a character," or "watch this character event." Every mission raises the owner level which opens up new options like being able to pause events or change environment variables and eventually just unlock a mode to play the relax events back. It also unlocks the titular Venus or Fortune swimsuits and pole dance tickets for purchase in the Owner Shop. A few weeks back they also introduced some lotions that effectively monetized the breast motion settings but several western news sites copying off one another said they were lotions to increase breast size. But yeah just a silly tech demo. There's also a free to play version that only lets you play as Kasumi to start and does not include the casino on the Asia/Japan stores. It's all in English too minus the voice acting. On PS4 it's as simple as creating a new account with an address in Lowtax, Hong Kong and setting it to be a primary system. Vita however has to wipe system settings and have a separate memory card so there are far less people willing to do that so there isn't as much video.

Sounds like that Sexy Beach game elpintogrande did a review on many moons ago, albeit without the x-rated content. Hopefully the new content for 5 also fixes the xinput problem the last patch brought back.

Minor update: The DOAX 3 PSN store was now upgraded from a Free-to-Play style ticket system to one similar to the DOA5 LR store. Prior to the the new update everything could be purchased with in game money or optional real money currency. Now some are only buyable with PSN funds.

Sorry for being away for a while, but it seems like the playerbase is finally growing for the game. Mai will be out in September and so will the KOF costume pack for the cast. Mai could pretty much fulfull the same role Akuma does for Tekken 7.

No indication of which weight class (light/medium) she'll be. Fan is a linear projectile hitting high and can be side walked and crouched under. Can cancel regular attacks into specials but it's not quite obvious which attacks she can cancel from. Some attacks may not have any special cancels.

I really doubt the teams working on these projects are the same. Team ninja is probably big enough to split their team into different smaller ones for other projects since they're working with Square Enix on their arcade game too.

I had to manually search the PSN website for "KOF," not "King of Fighters," before I could find any of the combo packs listed anywhere. After I bought it on the website, the DLC displayed as purchased and installed in the Store section that the game's main menu links to, but none of the KOF stuff was usable and the costumes weren't even visible to me. I had to power cycle my PS4 before the I could actually use the KOF stuff. Then it appears that Mai's model doesn't have head tracking turned on. What a garbage fire. I do appreciate that they gave Yuri's costume to Hitomi, though.

When I was trying it out, Mai would always keep her head straight ahead instead of looking at the opponent, but she did still try and follow them with her eyes. Maybe it's a deep dig at 2D fighters.

If like me you are functionally retarded when it comes to Mai here's some easy juggles: No wall: 8k 4p(cancel) 214P+K T(air), works on everyone. Wall: 8k 4p(cancel)214P+K 6pp(cancel) 236k, works on med-heavy. Use 6PKK for heavies instead of 6PP(cancel).
