Maybe try running your synth through Guitar Rig? http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/guitar-rig-5-player/ is the free version, it's obviously stripped wayyyyy down but should be enough to get you sounding more like a guitar- just running it through a virtual amp/cab may well be enough.

Guitars sound weird without a natural sense of 'space', so maybe try a hint of room reverb too. I've managed to get some pretty decent tones outta the Live guitar multisamples by doing this.

As well as slightly staggering your notes for chords, try shifting their timing a little behind the beat and add in occasional extra little chords so they go 'DUH-DUH-DUHNNNNNNNNNNNN' instead of just 'DUHNNNNNNNNNN', it should give it a more natural feel and sound less midified. So you'd have your 'DUH's on beats 13 and 15 to lead into the main chord starting on beat 1 of the next bar.

I really dig the sound of this btw, in a weird way it almost sounds like Rammstein- those drums are proper thumpy!
