Ableton 9, the full package that comes with the Glue Compressor and Operator and Analog and all that stuff, is realistically the only thing you need. I mean, if you're not gonna be obsessively tracking down vsts you won't use right like some people, you can use the built in instruments and effects and make a professional record if you know how to do so, obviously. Also Ableton lends itself quite well to hip hop, and I find it very natural to use.
