how do I get in touch with rappers that don't suck? I have enough beats to make a full length album. and that is something I would like to do. I need a consultant or something.

ALi posted:what sort of rapper are you into? who do you listen to? let's talk about it Well I don't know if I'd call my sound "classic" but I have a variety of beats made completely from vinyl that I could make into a cohesive, full length project. I'm mostly interested in one person that would complement them. I like the idea of one producer and one rapper. I have a few songs I've made with one other guy rapping and a girl who sang on them, but I can't squeeze that much work out of them. nor does the guy really have the content/sound I want.

does anyone have advice as to how to make basslines stand out on? I'm basically using a slightly tweaked synth generator in FL studio, but i'm unable to hear it on lovely speakers.

whoknew posted:reminds me of some recent harry fraud beats. i'd put a little more reverb, just a little delay on the intro. if your delay supports detuning that would probably sound cool too. snare needs to be louder also, may resolve the busy thing a little bit. jm2c. good looks thanks for the feedback.

I need to upgrade. I'm currently using FL Studio with an MPD 24. I also have a nice sound card (M-audio Audiophile 2496). I just keep feeling like I've reached limitations with FL Studio. I keep seeing MPC 1000/2000s on craigslist for $300-500 and I'm considering going that route. all ergonomics and usability stuff aside, what difference if any in sound will there be? am I going to have to buy a decent mixer and EQ too?

The Rubberbandit posted:What limitations are you hitting in FL? Mostly because I have a friend with an MPC 1000 and he claims that it sounds better than "a computer". This may be a misconception on his and my part. Maybe it's because of the built-in EQs/reverbs/etc that I'm using but I just seem to never be able to get the type of sound I want out of it despite fiddling with it for the better part of ten years. I suppose this could be lack of skill, ear, and not great samples on my part as well, but I basically feel like there's something inherently lacking with FL Studio's sound. Am I wrong? Should I get some VSTi plugins or something instead?

i just need to put in some effort with drums i guess http://soundcloud.com/pintofdirt/joepan sorry for all the posts but its been a lot of lab time this past few days edit: pitching down the kick and snare help a lot. a bit of chorus on the snare helps to "extend" it a bit.
