This happens to me all the time but only seems to happen with orientation locked (I stay locked in portrait mode). Unlocking and rotating or clicking in succession through the tabs that aren't blacked out usually fixes it.

Someone reported that earlier in the thread but it happens on my Air too in 7.0.4. Strangely I have one other app that does this-Pocket Informant in its task view.

Thanks to this tread I enabled the third party keyboard in general iOS... I guess I missed that before. So if someone else has this keyboard installed are they supposed to be able to see the emote or will it be the colon emote name colon? All that happens when I press it in iMessage is "copied <emoteshortcut>"
