I listen to a little NPR and the only liberal bias I can ascertain is that reality has a liberal bias. THey're the only station I hear really giving semi decent coverage to the genocide in Gaza and even that treads rather lightly.

I don't see how people think they'll get more fair and balanced news from a corporate sponsored outlet that's owned by one of many 3 major media conglomerates versus a publicly funded national station but, then again, the people who hate NPR want to privatize social security, education, utilities, police and poo poo like that so...

A right-wing broadcaster is asking Donald Trump supporters in New York to do the wrong thing.

The former president’s hush money trial got underway on Monday, and right-wing broadcaster Clay Travis tweeted on X to implore Trump fans in the Big Apple to commit a felony to help their fearless leader.

Travis suggested that any Trump supporter “who is a part of the jury pool, do everything you can to get seated on the jury and then refuse to convict as a matter of principle, dooming the case via hung jury.”

He added: “It’s the most patriotic thing you could possibly do.”

It is a federal crime to lie to get on a jury. Since jurors are supposed to reach a verdict based solely on evidence presented during the trial, many people on social media pointed out that Travis’ suggestion may count as jury tampering, a felony.

Now I want to actually see a Rob Schneider routine

https://www.avclub.com/rob-schneider-comedy-routine-too-raunchy-republicans-1851411475

Rob Schneider's comedy routine reportedly too "raunchy" for Republican event

quote:

His alignment with the Republican-leaning infotainment ecosystem extends to his last stand-up special, Rob Schneider: Woke Up In America airing on the Fox News streaming service Fox Nation. But it turns out his brand of comedy may be too extreme for even some of the niche conservative audience he’s been cultivating.

According to Politico, Schneider was cut off ten minutes into a half-hour comedy set at a Republican networking holiday event last year because his material was too offensive. His material was reportedly “raunchy” and racist, with jokes “aimed at Asian people” including one about “Korean whore-houses.” It was so “gross and vulgar” that Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith walked out of the performance: “She didn’t have to listen to it and so she got up and left,” her spokesperson told the outlet.

All 150 attendees (“which included more than 40 Senate chiefs of staff”) received an apology from organizers the next day which read, “While we do our best to ensure every aspect of our program is professional, courteous, and appropriate, we sincerely regret that the entertainment at last night’s program fell short of that goal.” The Senate Working Group, the networking organization that held the event, claimed that Schneider broke a verbal agreement “to keep his set relatively clean.”

Or maybe not. "Too racist for FOX News" has me curious though.

Weird, I thought the whole thing behind anti woke comedy was being edgy and saying a bunch of offensive poo poo to piss off snowflakes?

Speaking of math, Hannity and a few others like to extrapolate the number of people killed in the Hamas Israel attack by saying it would be the % population equivalent of like 40,000 dead Americans. But it got me wondering what 33,000 dead people in Gaza would amount to if they did the same trick. Naturally, none of them have run the numbers that way. Let's just do this USA Math to make an already horrible attack seem even bigger!

Posted before but Hannity likes to keep posting the death total from Oct 7 as a proportion to the US population, so it's like 1139 is the equivalent of 33,000 dead Americans. He does this a lot.

I ran some numbers of my own and, taking the 33,000 dead in Gaza and population numbers there of 590,481 that I was able to find, then that equals around 5%.

Five percent of the US population would be, by my numbers:

16,650,000

Let's round that down to 16.5 million, the vast majority of which would be civilians.

Did I do this math right? Because, applying Sean's equivalency metrics, that's beyond horrifying. I have to be loving this up somehow, right? Someone help me out here and figure out what the equivalent number of Americans would be to the casualties in GAZA. tia

I was thinking about this recently; wondering why the level of political discourse is so heated and why it's so hard to reach common ground and focus on the things we collectively care about and I realized:

SO MANY places are "not the time and place for politics".

Don't talk about politics at work. Don't bring up politics at family gatherings. Don't talk about politics at parties. No one wants to talk about politics at ________________. "I don't like politics on my social media page"

WHEN are we supposed to talk about this? We work like 75% of our waking hours.

I was...stunned.

He later fired me for being "unable to work with" and, a little later than that, was prosecuted by the company for embezzlement. SO I am happy to be fired by that rear end in a top hat. I know for a fact that he was embarrassed by me momentarily crying on 9/12/01 in front of the workers during a What the gently caress Just Happened Gathering and I can say with full confidence that he was a Republican who watched FOX News, loves guns and hates N-wordspeople. SOme talk radio dude was going off on overpaid McDonalds workers this afternoon and shared this anecdote.

He went to McD's and ordered four double cheeseburgers, NO BUN and asked that they be put in a salad tray. For some reason. He was psyched to be first in line but upset that he was asked to pull into the waiting area spot and then became increasingly pissed as several other people got their food.

Now, assuming this even happened, I think I may have spotted his problem.

First of all, fast food service has always sucked but, beyond that, he ordered this weird custom cheeseburger salad tray thing. These restaurants are set up to work like assembly lines in an automated fashion. Any time you change up their system with anything beyond "no cheese" or "no onions", they're not built for it and I doubt the automated order entry thingy that they rely on even had an option for something that bizarre. Probably took the 17 year old kid 10 minutes to figure out how to even enter it and then attempt to go explain it to the kitchen. "they want WHAT now?"

I also wonder if he considered that maybe other customers perhaps ordered their poo poo ahead of time on a loving app and their food was waiting for them. Orders that were normal poo poo on their menu and not a bizarre loving salad tray full of meat and cheese.

Hannity was a guest on Kilmeade's morning show today and said:

"Nobody can even say what the charges against Trump even ARE".

They're right here, Sean. All four cases:

NYC: Charges: 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree
So "Fraud".

He also said the statute of limitations had run out. Also false. Sorry for the NY Post link

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Y...20organization.

quote:

On June 27, 2023, the state's appellate division ruled that the case could continue, but that statutes of limitations limited allegedly illegal transactions from being charged if they concluded before July 13, 2014, respecting an August 2021 tolling agreement between the OAG and the organization.

https://nypost.com/2023/10/03/trumps-statute-of-limitations-claim-at-civil-trial-explained/

quote:

An appeals court in June ruled that the statute of limitations in the case is set at 2014.

While claims relating to alleged conduct from before 2014 can’t come into the case, Engoron set the record straight Tuesday — saying that evidence from before that time could still be used to help prove newer claims.

...

But the strangest thing (well not that strange) is that Hannity essentially did what amounted to a stump speech. I listen to Sean's show for 5 or 15 minutes at a clip here and there (or until I want to put a gun in my mouth) and I often accuse him of being a bit of a robot with prepared rhetoric and a talking points machine. But it really stood out this time.

I had heard this exact same rant, almost word for word, on his show and it reminded me a lot of the Bernie Sanders campaign actually - I mean, beyond the content of course - but just in the way it really WAS written and rehearsed ahead of time. I'm sure you can imagine but it was basically a chat GPT where you put in "Hunter Biden, rampant crime, illegal immigrants, weaponized DoJ, inflation", etc. etc. Oddly, no mention of George Soros.

He said the NYC judge should recuse for being a "Biden Donor". I wasn't aware that was a requirement for a judge. Also, what does this trial have to do with Joe Biden?
