thing is mostly a barrier to entry to keep out the spammers and purveyors of Internet vengeance. The size of the listener base has pretty much outgrown the comments section, since they've been trying to use it for off-topic discussions and spitballing on new episode ideas rather than actually commenting on the episode and its relevant subject.
