This is absolutely true. While I adore Warren for her strong positions on income inequality and wall street reform, she is not nearly presidential enough to make it through a primary process. She gives off twice the Ivory Tower Intellectual vibe of Professor Obama without any of his charisma or ease. If she runs in 2016 it will be a mistake and it will be because people pushed her to do it.

Assuming he doesn't gently caress up in the next four years, I think Rubio is a very strong contender. The demographic issue is staring Republicans in the face, and he's Latino while still being white enough to comfort the racists. Given the fact that the Republicans pretty much got slaughtered when it came to every minority group, I think if they're paying any attention, diversity or a reasonable appearance thereof is going to be a top concern.

Most of the people who seem to think Rubio would be a good national candidate don't seem to know all that much about him other than hes young, Republican and Latino. He has a lot more going against him than most people seem to think, starting with the fact that hes actually Cuban and there is zero evidence that of Mexican decent Hispanics will find him automatically appealing because of that. He seem to be bandied about because there really isn't anyone else who fits the 'young, charismatic and not a white guy' bill in the Republican party at this point.

If Mitt Romney as Governor can write love notes to the overwhelming Democratic Mass. state legislature, pass the prequel to Obamacare and declare his support for gay marriage and remain the front runner throughout the Republican nomination process, nothing is off the table. Romney won the nomination because he had the big money behind him and if Christie can do the same, he will too. If he loses weight and plays his cards right, he has the potential to be dangerously appealing to a huge range of voters.
