The GIG posted:I'm presently surprised with the gameplay tweaks. I just got done with Shadow Chie on Normal and they were actually pretty difficult. Also I learned about an attack I'm pretty sure I never saw in the first version because I always wiped the floor with them. Yeah the game seems to be more difficult than vanilla. I actually almost died on the first boss (never even came close on any of my p4 play throughs) and the first dungeon outing and I'm only playing on normal. [e] Also it's much harder to ambush shadows. I haven't gotten one yet after hitting shadows like 15 times. DrManiac fucked around with this message at 14:17 on Nov 21, 2012 |

How does the sos thing work? every time I get to battle it only heals 3hp and 2sp which is totally not worth the 3 seconds it takes to send the signal.

precision posted:P4 on Normal was really easy to me, it just depends how familiar you are with JRPG Bullshit I guess. I mean, it was easy in a satisfying way, the hardest thing was remembering what all the moon language names for skills mean when there are times you can't check (ie, while Fusing). What the gently caress is a Rakakuja?! The coolest thing about smt games is when you play enough of them to know all the spells by heart Also the spells are mishmashes of different demon names if I remember correctly.

This is also a shining example of how to do a meaningful port. They added so much poo poo that it's totally worth it for even people who played the vanilla version to death. They tweaked a bunch of stuff and straight up cut out all the unnecessary bullshit like reloading skills and the shuffle time mini-game. They also added a bunch of cool extra stuff that they didn't have to like the whole tv thing in the extra menu (which isn't just a place to view old cinematics like I originally thought it was) [e] I'm kinda disappointed that they took out the crazy Japanese food you don't know anything about when cooking. I really like the new gardening system since it basically gives you some good items and exp for Dojima and Nanako for a little money and a evening.

THE AWESOME GHOST posted:You can garden without taking up time, if you just never maintain it. You still get S Link bonuses for harvesting and replanting too. The plants do stuff like take you out of dungeons or give SP so it's definitely worth paying attention to. I'm assuming the ones you get later will do some good stuff. I'm only half way through and I got plants that are basically Gold keys, the elemental wall spells, and the physical/magic mirrors which isn't too shabby for a couple hundred yens. You also only have to maintain the garden the day before to get double the harvest. [e] I also love how good some of the arcana effects are now. Magician upgrades one of your equipped persona's skills to the next tier so I got Mediarama way earlier than I should have.

VarrosAnon posted:Just started playing this, after getting my white AC Vita on Friday. I played like a week of FES, but I'm liking this a lot more. Feels more... thoughtful? The translators just did a better job on localizing this on a deeper level, I think. I do have a question though - should I be worried about using too many items? I used one when fighting Shadow Yosuke- not too much of a spoiler but I don't want to ruin it for anyone and had to use a medicine. I know it's a small deal, but I just want to make sure when it comes to items I won't screw myself over in the first dungeon or anything. You get so many items that you'll never use in SMT games it not funny. Use whatever you want, especially if you need it to beat a boss. In general keep one of each of the elemental attack items for emergencies, keep the magic/physical walls until you met a enemy that uses mind/power charge, and try to save somas to save yourself some work on the longer boss fights towards the end of the game. By the middle of the game you should have spells that take care of everything, so you only really have to worry about items if the party's sp runs out or if your healer can't cure people for some reason. [e] The attack items are also good for the enemies with a all resistances and only 50 hp since they deal a set amount.

Both in the base game and golden, I had her use that fan for the whole rest of the game. NO REGRETS I'm pretty much in the same boat. The only time Yukiko needs to attack is the rare instance of a shadow being weak to physical

Should I buy the goddamn system for one of my favorite games of all time? To be fair some pretty rad games are coming out for the vita next year That said, golden is totally awesome and the definitive version of persona 4. I normally don't like saying stuff like 'this is the best game everrr', but P4G is hands down one of the best JRPGs I ever played and if persona 5 is as big of a jump in quality as 3 to 4 then it will be my all time favorite game ever. It's great once you can kill the gold hands since the money and xp they drop are way better than what you get in the tiny chests. They also seem to have a high chance to appear when you get a chest encounter for some reason.
