Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, The Last Emperor and The Sheltering Sky are some of his more famous film scores, and more recently there were the scores to The Revenant and Minamata.

Don't die, thread. I recently had an out of the blue thought about "From Hell," the 2001 Johnny Depp-lead Jack the Ripper movie based on the graphic novel and decided to check out the score for it and found it to be pretty decent. It's done by Trevor Jones and while it's not particularly remarkable it has some neat touches to it and overall serves as nice background with some gothic horror vibes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7P2jLPaaKE I really like the opening of this track how it uses an (anachronistic for the film) gramophone sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ciY9UbPhgQ As for Trevor Jones, we mustn't forget his theme for Cliffhanger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFw2Mu1CPtk Stare-Out fucked around with this message at 22:13 on Jan 4, 2024 |

MacheteZombie posted:I watched Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence today and it has a banging score. RIP Sakamoto, I'm a sucker for his theme for The Sheltering Sky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__aJL8i1kL4 There used to be a really great orchestral version around but I can't seem to find it now.
