Oh hey, this thread has people posting it again. Awesome. Try to spot an inspiration for this piece of music (hint: it's at the end). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLlorcBJC1M

I think it shortly referenced the main theme of World of Warcraft during the credits, but that might have been it. I'm not really that familiar with Warcraft's music, outside of the short jingles in Hearthstone. I do like "Echoes of War - The Music of Blizzard Entertainment" by Eminence Symphony Orchestra though. It is a two disc album with orchestral medleys from Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hIeWJlCxMw It has a Starcraft 1 Zerg medley that is both bizarre and beautiful. It's funny listening to music that was clearly inspired by John Carpenter and then being able to fit in his new music right alongside it. I was shuffling my favorites playlist on Spotify last weekend and by chance it went: Mogwai - Remurdered -> John Carpenter - Vortex -> Dance With The Dead - Nightdrive It was perfect. And it took me way too long to realize John Carpenter's theme for Assault On Precinct 13 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGME6jCwqw0) was sampled in Bomb The Bass - Megablast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgjNb-6EOYw) which was turned into a theme for the game Xenon 2 (which is how I originally knew it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w-tiRnac2k Edit: Added links for the first trio of songs mentioned. I did, even though it'll probably take another month before I can see the movie on the big screen. I think this was my favorite track after the initial listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDUI2okeVRA It's all very synthy and ambient at times, which I like. Play this song while running towards your gate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylUaZ4QpujA I really like this song because it references themes from earlier in the movie AND from The Bourne Identity, the most obvious one being "At The Bank". Please score more action movies, John Powell! Mierenneuker fucked around with this message at 09:08 on Jul 29, 2016 |

I didn't care much for The Magnificent Seven remake and most of it's score, but I really liked this piece of music. It's the perfect soundtrack for impending Wild West violence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmBOExUbZS8

HUNDU THE BEAST GOD posted:What is, really. I'd say that the two albums he put out are pretty fantastic as well. I haven't listened to The Drop That Contained The Sea much yet, but I had Calling All Dawns on repeat for ages. Here is the Dawn Suite, the 4 songs that close the album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFW2pGroPFE The final notes may sound familiar because it leads into Baba Yetu, the first song on the album.

...and just like that page 16 has become full circle. I'd to think I came close with "Seeing Gerrara" and "To Jedi For", but clearly I was still no match for the punmaster. Those liner notes say "my team and I" but I don't believe it for a second that those titles are not a one man show.

My favorite thing about the main motif from Rogue One is that it sounds like it's leading into The Force Theme/Binary Sunset but steps away from it at the last moment. It teases it heavily, saying "very soon... but not yet". It's perfect for a movie that leads directly into A New Hope.

Is "His" an actual song or did you copy-paste one word more than you intended? I really want to to hear that opening medley.

In my defense, it's not being sung a choir of native speakers.

Daniel Pemberton also did the score for this year's Gold, which I enjoyed so much that I made a Spotify playlist with all the songs (score + licensed) in order of appearance. Here it is. I can't seem to find any of the songs on YouTube, otherwise I would link to a song called "The Ring of Fire I - The Prospector". If you're into heist/spy music you'll love that one (the same goes for "The New York Jungle"). What's up with soundtrack albums not having the tracks in order of appearance anyway? Don't the composers have creative control over that kind of thing?

Calling it "Variation 15" is a bit brazen in my book, but I'll forgive Benjamin Wallfisch and Hans Zimmer because I like Elgar's Enigma Variations as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUpvEgJEn94

I think it was a excellent match for the movie, with it not being as serious as the other Marvel movies. I also liked the musical callbacks to the other movies (Dr. Strange and the Thor main theme). It also had a very fitting bonus track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7s7MvRNmzI

Ooh, I like John Powell when he isn't scoring animated movies. I hope he has some freedom and gets creative with it, instead of just trying to follow in John Williams' footsteps like Rogue One did.

I would love to hear the cut/mix between the k-hiphop(?) song and the score during the chase scene again. I remember it being pretty smooth, for I moment I suspected it was going to be a song like Mona Lisa Overdrive from The Matrix: Reloaded (cutting back and forth).

"Taking a Stand" is the perfect Cap theme to me. The ending scene from Hancock would lean towards being ridiculous if it didn’t have this piece of music from John Powell accompanying it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SHPUwgP7aY Also, chase music, dude knows his chase music. I could just link to “Bim Bam Smash” from The Bourne Supremacy again, but let’s do something else. Here are two pieces that are somewhat similar (especially if you see the scenes they belong to) yet both manage to deliver. Most of it is spooky noises and soundscapes, it's not very memorable. Except for this piece, mostly because that scene barely has dialogue or sound effects to let the mindfuck sit in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVnSFj6XQZY

Article did not feature Spawn The Album, worthless. Also, I can’t read the name John Powell without thinking of “Bim Bam Smash” from The Bourne Supremacy. I think I could write an essay on why I like that song. It works as a stand alone, but if you start listening to the soundtrack (and that of The Bourne Identity) you realize that it is like a culmination (ooh, fancy word) of several musical themes.

It's a licensed song, but it's instrumental so I think you won't mind. Featured in Ad Astra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIwwjy4slI8 It's a shame they don't use the second half of the song. I think it would be perfect for the third act. The last time I was caught that off-guard at the use of a song I know was Equals in 2015. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fy4YPd7viU This plays during a love/sex scene. That sounds really weird out of context, but it makes perfect sense in the movie, which features classical compositions as diegetic music. So there is a contrast between the harmony of their working environment and the dissonance of their private life.
