Darko posted:I'll check out that score. But, yes, all too often, great scores get under-heard because of being attached to mediocre or crap films. Case in point: Lady in the Water. Fantastic score.

I remember playing the lead in my high school drama club's presentation of The Valiant. At the climactic scene, as I'm being marched off to the gallows, nobly facing my fate, I told the A/V guy to play the music from President Pullman's speech in the background. Niagara Falls. Even my little brother got weepy, and he hated everything.

My biggest disappointment was that, in a Captain America movie, we didn't hear any of Alan Silvestri's awesome march. Like...not even a little bit.

I always really dug the Predator soundtrack. It matches the tone of the movie so perfectly, and it has a couple of great standout motifs like the main theme, He's My Friend, and Billy Stands Alone.

They used the Stormwind theme when it first shows up.

I like the James Horner soundtrack that uses a 4-note brass motif to herald villainy or despair!

CelticPredator posted:I’d imagine it won’t be as sparse as it was in the first one. I appreciated Silvestri’s approach to the theme in Avengers; how its full expression is reserved to highlight moments of great import or scale. It gives the theme and the moments where it’s used more weight.

I don’t know what’s shameful about that, Silvestri’s Captain America march and Avengers theme are fuckin’ aces. I’m super glad the Infinity War trailers have given the theme the prominence it deserves for once and I’m looking forward to seeing what Silvestri does with the soundtrack.

Stare-Out posted:Marvel movie scores are completely forgettable for the most part I mean, strongly disagree. The first couple of Iron Man movies had a kind of generic muscle rock sound to them, but Thor had a fantastic theme that was used well and Captain America was top-notch. Most of the later Marvel films have good themes (Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Iron Man 3, all the Thor movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming, etc.) I can and often do find myself humming any one of them throughout my day.

Listened to that Mandalorian main theme a couple of times on repeat and it's giving me some really wonderful old school 80s TV action adventure vibes, like The A-Team.

First CD I ever bought was Ren & Stimpy's Crock o' Christmas. But the second CD I ever bought was the OG Jurassic Park soundtrack. I owned it on cassette at the time, too. I've since lost the cassette, but I still have the CD. And I've since purchased it digitally on iTunes.

Do you know what I just realized? The first four notes of the Robocop theme are A C A B.
