I have a weird question. On most gasoline vehicles, I have to think twice or so over anything over ~150K, and normally it's due to my worrying about the transmissions. I regularly hear about Diesels that run 300K+ without much trouble. I can understand the engine, but what about the transmissions? Are trannys used in Diesel vehicles just over-built to compensate for the increased torque diesels offer? Or is my entire line of thinking way off base? Thanks for educating me, would help me in my quest to get my wife warmed up to the idea of a diesel.
