Just finished my first watch of the entire series...and it definitely lives up to its reputation. It's hard to believe they were able to get so many different characters to weave in and out of the narrative like that. This show's extended cast has to have like 40 different characters.

No, and he's also in Season 1 more than any other season. He doesn't really have a huge arc but they try to give him one at the very end for some reason.

After watching the final episode over the weekend, I can say that they somehow managed to give all of the characters endings, which considering there are like 25 of them by the end, is an accomplishment on its own

If I’m the real Jay Landsman, am I annoyed with how they portray ‘Jay Landsman’, the character?

Closing out season 3:

Was it when he talked with Brother Mouzone and realized Stringer had sent Omar after him? Or did he just have the feeling that Stringer was coming after him too?
Pretty sure it's implied to be the former

Once he knew that Stringer had played him that way, he basically had to either off Stringer to save his connections, or let him off the hook and then lose his status as one of the biggest power players in the city.

Marlo is actually pretty similar to Avon in how they think about power

Although the interesting difference between the two comes up at the end of the series.

Season 5 spoilers Marlo essentially gets away with everything, and gets to keep his money. But the last thing we see of him is him picking a fight with some street dealers because they were talking about Omar. It's pretty clear that unlike Avon, Marlo is not going to go quietly and is almost certainly going to either get himself killed or go back to jail.

I like the scene where Cutty goes to him to try and get money for his gym, he spends like 2 minutes trying to avoid giving him a number, and when he finally does, Avon just laughs and says to give Cutty like an extra $5K on top of the ask

- Interesting that it's unclear why exactly Michael wants his dad (or maybe just Bug's dad, not certain on that one) dead. Chris's assumption is that he's a child abuser, but I don't think Michael ever says that directly. I guess you can infer that his discomfort with any level of physical touch between him or Bug and the guy stems from that, but it could also be abandonment issues.
It's Bug's dad, and it's pretty heavily implied that it's some kind of sexual abuse but they don't outright tell you.

There's a ton of poo poo in S4 because on top of the other ongoing plots, they add Cutty and his sideplot, along with all of those kid characters

I have no idea how they managed to balance all of that into something cohesive.

FlamingLiberal

Like I clearly felt that Dukie’s ending was not a good place for him. Maybe he makes it off the street, but we saw other addicts throughout the series that didn’t.

At least with Michael it was pretty clear he was going to end up in some kind of position of violence, but Dukie had the best chance to get off the streets with the help from Prez and still got dragged down.

Randy is the most tragic because a lot of what happens to him is completely out of his hands, and all indication is that he is just going to end up bouncing in and out of the system most of his life.

1.) Bubbles
2.) Lester Freamon
3.) Frank Sobotka
4.) Omar Little
5.) Stringer Bell

So where would Bodie land? If I keep it going...

6.) Prop Joe
7.) Clay Davis
8.) Cedric Daniels
9.) Bunk Moreland
10.) Avon Barksdale
11.) Rhonda Pearlman
12.) Maurice Levy
13.) Snoop
14.) Bodie
15.) Norman

Top 15 isn't bad!

I do find it funny how much Obama took from the Carcetti playbook, in terms of making big sweeping promises in speeches and then just governing like any other politician

Even if you think he was a good guy early on, I don't know how you keep that view after he decides to gently caress over the schools rather than take money from the Republican governor, because he wants to run for Governor and get out of Baltimore.
