Of the two gyms I climb at, both require a grigri or other assisted device for lead belaying. One is fine with tubular devices for TR and the other has grigris pre-set on every TR, and beefy twistlock biners for the climber to clip into like on an autobelay (which I actually don’t love, something about tying in myself is reassuring, I’m always paranoid I’ve mis-clipped somehow.)

I don’t care WHAT the kiddos climb but the team kids were kinda annoying me the other day by making up routes traversing across big chunks of the wall and climbing them without breaks, so taking up kind of a lot of the set routes all at once.

I think it’s cheaty but I’m only ever probably doing the 11,000th ascent of some low quality 5.10 so who cares.

Honestly this winter I’ve been climbing in thin socks because the gym was cold and it’s fine and seems to be keeping my evolvs not very stinky but on the other hand I probably look really uncool.

My kid made nationals in bouldering! Super psyched. Has a shot at ropes too this year, we'll see how that goes.

Owns.
