I'd buy the rockauto bearings and see if they get your the clearance you need, what do they cost? I mean, worst case you're out however much they cost plus the price of a new crank instead of just the price of a new crank and the proper factory bearings.

If you do that, you're going to need a 5 ton, say an M816 wrecker, to recover the deuce and a half. I'm not sure what you'll need to recover the wrecker, but it might involve a sizable wallet.

You will hear that turbo screaming for your soul quite clearly through a set of OSHA compliant disposable earplugs, completely inserted into your ear canals.

Dumb question, is the crank sensor on that engine mounted to the bellhousing or the engine block? I ask because on the engines I'm used to, it's on the bellhousing, so if you plug it in and try to test fire without the trans installed, you're going nowhere.

Clearly a few missed electrical connections implies that the builder has no idea how to use a torque wrench on important things inside an engine. I guess I better drive back to NY and recheck the torque on every bolt on Ozmiander's YJ, as I did forget to plug one harness connector back in before trying to start it.

Looks like the wrong/a generic oil dipstick, but I'm not sure. As long as there aren't any significant damages to the block/head/head gasket, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I'm pretty sure every engine swap project is required to include a pic like that.

Maybe jump up my rear end and tell me I am an ignorant lube monkey and don't know how to spell cavitation, nevermind know what it means, again, as well Adiabatic - have you checked to make sure you didn't accidentally bend a heatshield or lose a wiring harness clip or something, so there's some sort of thing dragging on the driveshaft, maybe? I've had that happen before. Clearly it was because I had no idea how to work on my jeep and shouldn't have dived into a drivetrain replacement, I should have brought it to a shop because a broken wiring harness clip that let an O2 sensor plug hang on the rear driveshaft unexpectedly means I don't know how to replace a clutch.

I'm pretty sure if you buy a Biturbo the world will turn on its head and it will work absolutely perfectly for you. That is some amazingly bad luck.

When you put it that way I think the name of the game here is "bargain as much as possible on the vehicle worth, buy it back for as little as possible" then... build a locost out of it.

You can usually bargain on the buyback but sometimes they laugh and take a giant hit at a salvage auction instead because they're smart that way. e: can I re-recommend a deuce and a half? If some jackoff hits you like that again, it means you have to repaint your bumper and front differential and possibly replace a tire. And there are like two ground straps and 3 wires on the whole engine compartment, so no one can crawl up your rear end in a top hat over you putting something together wrong kastein fucked around with this message at 02:43 on Nov 21, 2013 |
