It's pretty hard but once you get some good gear and figure out that you just kinda have to be careful, it's not really all THAT bad. I beat it on the Xbox a while back and enjoyed it a lot. The biggest fuckin bullshit level is Blighttown where you can get insta-gibbed by a bunch of poo poo and all kinds of things knock you off rickety platforms and stuff. I will play the sequel when it comes out for sure. I hope the sequel has a way to completely turn off the "pvp" elements of it though. gently caress that poo poo. I honestly might not have even bought the game if I had known about the "invasions" which is really just some loving neckbeard who pimps out his dude to one shot you coming in and loving you up at like the worst possible moment why they did not add in the option to turn that poo poo off is baffling.

It's a terrible game that's well past its prime. I haven't played it in forever. But I've been feeling like playing an MMO for a few weeks now and nothing else is good. Guild Wars 2 is poo poo, Secret World is poo poo, every other MMO is poo poo. WoW is still poo poo, but it's very well polished poo poo. Planetside 2 is a blast to play but there's a bug right now that's making a good portion of the playerbase not log in right now.

I have had an active WoW account since release in November 2004. Sometimes I won't play for months then I will go on a binge (usually toward the end of an expansion's life when everything is easily pug-able) for a few months then put it down again. I played the ever-loving poo poo out of it for the first two or three years but have gone into on-again off-again since that time. I like WoW. It's a cool diversion when there isn't anything else I am especially excited about playing and tyou certainly don't lack for things to do in the game at this point. I will warn you though that the new expansion features some pretty heavy reputation grinding (for some loving reason) in order to get gear good enough to get into the first tier of raid finder. PvP is still occasionally loving brilliant though! I think MoP looks good (for an 8-9 year old game), and I enjoyed leveling my Rogue and Warlock, but I don't plan to play for a while or level any of my other dudes 85-90 until they boost the xp gain a little bit.

e: I see you play a Paladin. Paladin damage is goddamned terrible. Recommend playing literally any other class if you want to have fun!

But honestly, gently caress the rep grind. I had enough after Molten Front.

I'm with you. They took them out after Burning Crusade because everyone loving hated them but then put them back in because .. ???

I thought the tabard idea from WotLK was perfect. Passively gain rep in your desired factions while doing heroics, and make even that entirely optional since you got non-lovely gear from the dungeons too. I still love the game for offbeat poo poo like holiday events, doing battlegrounds with a group of drunken bros, or griefing the poo poo out of people. But the standard "level to 90 then grind 47 different factions to get enough gear to grind horrible lfr encounters" has little appeal to me. As usual, playing with drunken goons makes poo poo more fun, but I have a huge group of non-goon "Wow friends" (I am such a nerd) so I can't spend 100% of my WoW time with goons.

TF2's the only free-to-play I've seen that isn't a scam.

If you like hardcore ARPGs check out Path of Exile. Open Beta starts tomorrow, but I've been playing in the closed Beta for a few weeks now and love it. It's F2P and the only things you pay for are more storage space (which you can do without) and cosmetic items. It's pretty loving rad.

I played PS2 for a few days but quickly became frustrated by the same things vik mentioned. I'm generally pretty good at shooters and am willing to log hours to level my dude but I just couldn't be assed to do it in this game.

Agreed that Normal Difficulty is the way to go. Goons have loving hard-ons for extreme and arbitrary difficulty in games. gently caress that, I'm 35 and have a job and a family. I have real life accomplishments, so I kind of just want to play games to have fun. And X-Com is randomly ballcrushing on dificulties above Normal.

Path of Exile is okay, I guess. It's most definitely an ARPG, that's for sure. I'm kinda glad that it's free because I would have a hard time with it otherwise. The absolutely massive passive skilltrees and the way they handle active abilities is kinda rad though.

edit: Ok, this game is totally the spiritual successor to D2. I just gambled my primary weapon and ended up loving up the amount of gem slots it has hardcore, making it impossible for my character to use it AND it has the only blue gem slot in my gear to use my primary ability. Deleting character now wooo.

Wait till you discover that the vendors are also Horadric Cubes...

Also beware of blindly levelling up your gems everytime they are ready, lest you find yourself unable to use your skills...

I enjoyed Diablo III for what it was but I honestly did not see much replay value in it. Once you had a max level of each class, you just moved poo poo around how you liked it and tried not to get your dick stomped while farming the higher level difficulties for gear.

With PoE, there is still dick stomping at the higher levels, but a "full respec", while theoretically possible, is not something you're ever really going to be able to do with your dude. To that end you level according to your desired end state, not the gear you pick up or the flavor of the month. To me, it makes the game a little more entertaining, although I can definitely see how that would not appeal to everyone. My favorite part about PoE though is the Map Stones you can find and how much more randomness they add to the game. Now you don't just farm the same levels--->acts--->difficulties, now these cool random areas are thrown in the mix kind of like the original Torchlight. I never played much Diablo II. I was a Lance Corporal without a computer for most of its heyday. But I do enjoy PoE more than I enjoyed Diablo III.

Play it nerds! It's loving free!

Woods porn is a legit thing for anyone who grew up in the 80's or 90s by some woods. Also the 7-11 in our town would routinely have Nugget, Cheri, Black Tail and other amazing sleaze mags in the dumpster. Which would then be taken to our fort in the woods. This has nothing to do with video games sorry.
