So Christopher Martin-Jenkins has just died. Being a cricket commentator seems to be a more risky business than heretofore thought.

I dunno. Australia's problem is that they can't exploit England's lack of ability to play decent spin.

I thought out bowled was the only dismissal where the fielding side don't have to appeal, the umpire just gives you out.

Whatever the answer is, this last session has proved that David Warner is not it. There were a bunch of ugly half trackers in there.

Unimpressed posted:Looks like Dhoni and BCCI figured out how to never lose another test series. They ran the trial for the approach in the last test of the english series and now seem to have it perfected. Dishing out a rank turner is too dangerous. Instead, provide a slow pitch that will not be too difficult, but most importantly carry no speed off the ball so no one can get ahead too quickly. Then, wait for the draw (Dhoni has a Post-Doctorate on that subject). 380+515 = 895, i.e. the standard 100 runs per session. Meaning, unless there's a miracle, this crap test is going to be another boring Indian draw. I'm an England supporter, but I can't help wanting the Aussies to win. gently caress Dhoni and the BCCI. They've got a lead, 6 sessions left, a bunch of batsmen who love to give it some tap and plenty of spinners. A draw is still the favourite result, but an Indian win is still eminently possible, and they'd have to massively gently caress up to lose from here. Unless they put actual mines in the pitch before the last day.

But like I say, I wouldn't mind him getting a pick, I just have a feeling his bowling won't be as effective at test level. I certainly think he'll need a grounding in ODIs before he gets anywhere near a test match.

I dunno, I thought he'd average about thirty and constantly flirt with scoring enough to make him worthwhile. And thus get constantly selected ahead of better players.
