A new thread for a new year - though the old one certainly had highlights to be missed.

I only wonder if this thread will even have the opportunity to see the sort of :allears: madness that the collapse of MM entailed.

East vs. West and March of the Eagles could go very wrong. East vs. West seems to be HOI3 but bigger so that's basically a recipe for disaster and March of the Eagles could just be another Sengoku. Though they're both missing Ubik and his breakdowns are half the fun. Nice OP, by the way.

Sengoku Rance is a porn game.

Of course not! It's actually an adult themed video game that handles rape and other atrocities in a humorous way!

Now we know what Paradox's doing all day instead of working their asses off, they're making a musical based on the love story between the poor and weak Ulm and mighty France! And we even get previews of a couple of songs!

Quick question: Italy NNM game is going well, but during the second reconquest of Austria-owned Italy, a billion rebels popped and managed to free Venice, and now I have super ugly borders. Venice is in my sphere (automatically) but they're allied with France, who I could go to war with (and crush) but I'd rather not because of their alliances and our high relations. I'm not above cheating to deal with this nuisance-that-should-not-have-happened, but I can't open my save game in notepad for some reason. Does anyone know if there's a console code for "add country to me" or at least "get rid of alliance"?

You could use "showprovinceid" to well, show the provinceid's and then use changeowner TAG provinceid, in this case something like "changeowner ITA 123" to add Venice's province to Italy. I think Venice will still exist as a country but it'll be totally useless because it doesn't have any provinces.

Hey guys, it's really hard to figure out who the leader of the DDR's Communist Party was in the 1970s, so...

All hail Chairman Apfeldornen!

Holy poo poo. I actually know that guy, kid more like, he's like 14. He's practically insane, absolutely obsessed with communism and hated by everyone. He's like the last person I expected to see here. The worst part is, he isn't even german.

I'm not sure about modability. Maybe some sort of custom scenario system in the future. I was thinking of also including an alt-history Nazis win the war scenario with a cold war between Japan and Germany.

Like The Man in the High Castle? It's one of my favourite books and would actually make for a pretty interesting scenario!

It's a dumb GUI issue but if you hover over the checkbox in the corner of the decision instead of the rest of the decision it will tell what conditions have to be met.

Jesus Christ, I've been playing DH for more than 200 hours and I had absolutely no idea this was something you could do. It's a great game but the UI really could be better!

In Darkest Hour, what's the easiest way to make borders pretty? Is there a console command that changes province ownership?

The easiest way I've found is just claiming provinces or regions and, using acceptall, just demanding the provinces. It's not as easy as using changeowner in V2 but it's easy enough.

I'm working on my gay_spergy_HOI_thoughts.txt file and I'm trying to figure out- are there any benefits you gain from having a high neutrality? If I remember correctly there's nothing about having a high neutrality that keeps someone else from attacking you, it doesn't help you do anything more in the diplomacy screen (including secure trade agreements) nor are any good policies accessed by having high neutrality. Are there some country events/decisions that happen from high neutrality that are absolutely positive?

I'm guessing this is about DH? Anyway, as far as I know neutrality is basically an inverse badboy. Instead of countries declaring war if it's too high, they declare war when it gets too low. And really the only reason you want high neutrality is if you don't want to break event chains, In one of my vanilla DH Germany 1933 games I started a little too early with the rebuilding of the Wehrmacht in like 1935 or something and out of the blue the UK declared war, I think without France even. So instead of another 4 years of building IC I had pretty much no manpower, no army, no air force and no navy against a surprisingly strong Britain. One of my shortest HOI games ever!

Right, but you do have belligerence in DH, which is basically the same thing except it's more or less the opposite that.
