When you make the second entry and the debits and credits balance, and you blow them to hell.
I'm trying to find artists for a couple of different projects, one is a cover of a novel. I've looked at fiverr and online cover farms, though I'd prefer a goon artist even if it costs a bit more.

Basically the first one is a sword and sorcery book, and I'd like a picture of a woman in a swampish kind of background and a snake peeking around one of the corners. However, the woman is in real armor (i.e. not boob armor), with her hair cut short to hide that she's a woman, so while I'd like it to be a callback to Robert Howard and pulpy covers like Robert Howard and Fritz Leiber, it can't have that motif of "vulnerable white woman being threatened".
I'd need a very tight turn around on this piece, or at least a draft very quickly. If that goes well I'll write more stories starring her so there'll be more covers.

The other project is more of an ongoing thing, I'm looking for a series of perspective drawings on things drawn to accompany short travel log pieces on my website. This travel log takes place in a secondary fictional world, so some of them will be fantastic flora and fauna, and others may be extremely prosaic or just pictures of a normalish medieval village or something like that.

If you're interested in either or both projects please pm me or email me brian_york@hotmail.com so we can talk about timelines and pay.

Does anyone do or know someone who paints converse? I’m just wondering about pricing and such. I know it depends on what I want and all but I don’t even know where to begin looking for someone who does that so I figured goons would be a good start!

Hey all - I am looking for a graphic designer with some modest illustration skills to help me out with overflow work and some project development. Primarily this will be doing layout and design work on stuff like Whitepapers, Executive Reports, Case Studies etc. The 'illustration' competency is really in respect to infographic type content, not specifically illustrations.

This is corporate work so requires per project estimates, we pay 50% deposits and have pretty good budgets withing reason. I would need to see a few samples of work and we need source files so you'd have to be ok with that. If this sounds interesting to you PM me or email me at razorfield (at) gmail.com and I can provide more specifics.

One of my bffs is getting married in a few months, and I'm looking to get him a not-very-serious gift to go along with a separate, relatively serious gift. What I would like is an original ink drawing of his cat in the style of Tom of Finland, combining something like this:

with this:

The artwork doesn't have to be huge, but it is important that the quality be high and that it be made to last (acid-free paper or whatever...I'm ignorant as hell about this stuff, sorry). I really want something that looks like someone just discovered a long-lost Tom of Finland original that just happens to have a cat's head.

Please PM me to discuss.

I'm looking for a Maya freelancer to convert an nParticle animation into a GLTF/GLB. May lead to a few more equally simple animations in future, all currently rendered with Arnold to 4K videos. Animation is basically a group of falling basketballs,

I've tried exporting but stuck with either a bug in Maya 2020 export that breaks GLTF Exporter, or using Instancer python tools that ignore rotation.

Please PM for anything further, include comp options, or email smccoy at zignage.com

edit: I found a 2011 script to create instances as geometry that actually works, just remaining is fixing the textures outside of Maya. I only tested with Babylon.js sandbox and the output was ugly, but that is hopefully related to timing on their pre-release.

update: a colleague tried several online freelance hires and the big issue appears to be the PBR textures. I perused some 3d asset shops and found some interesting potential hires due to high quality PBR GLTF assets on show:

E: found someone already, this thread doesn't disappoint!

Hey, anyone have the equipment and knowhow to make some good product shots? I made a board game, but all I had was a SLR camera and some living room lights - the shots I took came out OKish, but I really want someone with a professional lightbox setup and the knowhow to do some proper pictures. I want to get pics of the outer box and contents with good lighting and the backgrounds masked away. Shoot me a PM with examples of some of the work you've done and what kind of rate you're looking for. (Or email public.contact@cloakgaming.com if you don't have PMs)

I don't need anything super fancy, just the standard pictures you'd expect; front of box, rear of box, maybe a couple other standard outer views like a 3/4 angle shot of the front, and a couple pictures of the contents - I want at least one image of a squareish layout of the internals, but beyond that you can decide what layouts to use of the internals since you have the experience and artistic knack.

You can get an idea of the product and just a quick square layout with the shots I took at https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3920086

My father-in-law is a retired professor and old-school socialist who is finally publishing his book about the dysfunctions of the American education system. I am handling the logistics for publishing and we need an artist to produce 10+ original single-panel political cartoon-style illustrations to accompany different sections of the book. We are preferably seeking someone who has the time/capability of completing this project as a whole, rather than parceling it out to multiple artists. The book delves deeply into American politics and has a streak of biting humor throughout. We are more concerned with hiring an artist who is a good fit for his writing rather than looking for a particular art style.

If you are interested please send a samples of previous work to knightofsloth at gmail dot com. Specifically, we are interested in seeing caricatures of political figures, comics/cartoons of a political nature, or anything you think might bring a smile to the face of a bitter old socialist. Funding has already been set aside for this project and we are eager to move forward as soon as possible.

I'm looking for a pixel artist for some characters and animations.

Current page: https://dipwood.itch.io/ogre-battler

The pixel art I require should be in the popular Time Fantasy style: http://timefantasy.net/ I have a color palette as well if needed.

I have already commissioned the creator of that style for many different assets, and I just need someone to do some additional work.
I will go into more detail of what kind of sprites I need when I'm contacted. I can provide examples of sprite sheets I have already received as well.

Here's a short video of what the battles look like: https://streamable.com/2s722l (will have original BGM/SFX later)

Compensation: I will pay a flat rate, commission-style, for each sprite sheet, mainly because I only work on this every now and then so I'll probably only hit you up once a month or so for a few sprite sheets.

Hello Art Goons!

I've got a somewhat large project I'm working on and wanted to post here to get some feedback and find some talent.

I've been interested in children's books since, well, forever. I have probably 10 manuscripts I've been working on for years but have always been afraid to push forward. A couple years ago, my mother-in-law bought this book for our daughter:

https://www.rebelgirls.com/products/good-night-stories-for-rebel-girls

She loves it! I sort of got inspired to write short stories about leftist and revolutionary heroes. I've pounded out 20 of them so far and would like to try to get to 50. The first problem is with art. The rebel girl books are so great because the artwork is different for each story and the style is usually well matched with the background and time period for each character.

I really want to get this book published more than anything, and I'm not looking to maximize earnings or anything like that. I think I'd like to make two or three sample stories, complete with art, put it up on kickstarter and see if I can get enough interest to fund the rest of the artwork.

So I have a question about pricing. I want to make a full color 6"x9" hardcover book in a similar style to the aforementioned series. I was thinking about $100 per drawing (not contest style, but based on an artist's portfolio) and a 1% royalty on gross profits. That would leave 50% total for art and 50% for writing. Is this a reasonable plan? How shall I go about finding artists for the first few demo pages?

Thanks in advance for the input, sweet goons

I don't know if this is the place for it, or if this is even a realistic ask, but I was hoping to hire a copywriter for some small work here and there. I am a website/software developer, and need someone to write text for the websites I build. For the current work I have, I don't really care about SEO or any of that kind of stuff. I basically have mock ups with nonsense text that show how many words I want for each section and your job is to replace the nonsense words with relevent copywritten text. For example: you know how websites will have a row of icons with 1 word next to them with a paragraph underneath them? You'll come up with that one word and paragraph of text. When I've researched relevant job postings, people most charge per word but if you'd like to charge a flat rate we can do that as well. If you can write simple ads for mobile app ads that'd be cool too. Just text that goes over banners and stuff like that. We can discuss what you are comfortable doing in greater detail in PMs.

Please PM me or post in thread with any questions, thanks!

My girlfriend works as a mental health counselor and has asked me to draw something for her but it is definitely beyond the scope of my artistic skills. She would like a picture of people sitting around a dining room table. There's a horse standing on the table. The people are ignoring the horse. I'm sure this is a metaphor for her patients ignoring the elephant in the room wrt to issues, but I didn't press for details about the context in the groups she runs.

This doesn't need to be fancy since I was going to whip something simple up in Procreate on my iPad and text her the png export anyway. I'm 100% willing to pay a fair price for this drawing. Is this an appropriate place to look for fantasy D&D party commissions? I'd like something to commemorate the last year of a long-running campaign where we've all been forced to play remotely.

What I'm looking for is portraits/busts of four characters plus a GM as if they're sitting on a Zoom call. Everyone is distracted by something like a cat, baby, food, etc. The Zoom framing is key to the piece, so in addition to the characters themselves I want some sort of videoconferencing UI, whether it's ripped off from a specific application or something original I don't care. Maybe some individual background details behind the characters if you want, but I don't have specific things in mind for that.

I can provide written descriptions of all the characters as well as previously commissioned art as a reference. I'm willing to pay appropriately for all these extra flourishes on top of a standard party portrait.

Contact me via PM or reply with your own preferred method. Thanks!

Hello, friends. I come here in search of an artist, or a reference for an artist, who does brilliant, shiny, up-beat, pseudo-lifelike (I’m leaning toward impressionist techniques here) commission work. My parent’s beloved doggo passed away recently, and I’ve been considering getting a piece done to commemorate his passing. I’m not really sure where else on the forums to ask, but figured this was a good place to start. I know there are a billion resources on Etsy and Reddit for this kind of thing, but I’d rather give a fellow goon cash before I go there.

For reference, here’s the good doggo in question. His name is Zero.

If you're looking for me, you better check under the sea

I am looking for a video editor / animator to make a ~6 minute music video for an independent DIY band. A storyboard will be provided along with themes and ideas, along with some shot camera footage from the band members, but there will be considerable creative freedom. I have a budget of $750 dollars for the work - we are not a rich band.

This will not be a super animation heavy project - more serious creative editing and working with stills, royalty free historical footage, video I will provide, etc.

I would like to see a portfolio or evidence of previous work and have a quick chat via email before choosing someone to commission. I have worked in creative agencies myself before, work with designers now professionally, and I pride myself on not being a jerk to designers and creatives and paying them properly. We'll set very strict rules on amounts of edits, creative freedom, and payment terms and I will stick to them, and we'll make the budget fit the effort.

I will pay a 33% ($250) kill fee immediately upon your starting work.

Please respond here with contact details if you're interested and I will reach out to you. I am in GMT timezone.

Once I have chosen someone I will post in the thread who has been chosen and also post upon completion of payment. I am based in GMT timezone.

I want to warn you fellers
And tell you one by one
What makes a gallows rope to swing
A woman and a gun

Hey everyone! I'm not sure if this request is "too small" for this thread but I figured I'd ask anyway because I'd rather support goons than random folks.

Short story: I'm looking for an artist to create some sort of mockup for a logo or a sign for a children's bookstore. I honestly don't know how much time this would take or how much it would cost so happy to be educated.

Long story: my wife has always wanted to open a children's bookstore to a point where she has already picked out a name and theme for it. We both know it's kind of a pie-in-the-sky dream considering how impossible it is to run a bookstore, let alone a children's focused bookstore, at a profit, but if we're in a comfortable position in the future we talk about it almost being like a hobby where she's able to do what she knows best (she's a true expert in kid lit and is amazing at helping people find the right book for their kids - like you walk in and go "My kid loves dinosaurs but also trucks" and I guarantee she has a book about it which won a Caldecott.

Since it is her dream I thought it would be fun to surprise her for her birthday coming up with some artist mock ups of a logo or a design that she could have in her pocket when she does open the store or even use on her social media now. It would be fun to have and see a potential logo but also will hopefully just be a nice gesture saying I support her dream.

I honestly am just thinking this out and I don't know what a reasonable budget would be. I also have no idea if this would qualify as work for a "small business" or a personal project, so who knows what the rates are. At this point for the thread etiquette I suppose I would ask people to PM me with an estimate of the price? I'd like to print out some versions of it and make them look fancy so I'd like them relatively quickly (next ~2 weeks) unless that kind of thing is something the artist offers too which I'd consider for sure.

Hope this all makes sense, the last thing I want is to come across as someone looking to get free work.

For reference the bookstore's name would be Lupine Books, inspired by one of her favorite children's books Miss Rumphius https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Rumphius and the associated flower.

Thus the logo, sign, motif, etc., would be Lupine themed (ideally purplish) and appropriate for a children's book store (I'm utterly without artistic talent so I'd take your word for it!).

Thanks all and feel free to let me know if I need to go to a different thread or offsite for this kind of limited request.
