Ken is awesome. Spergs out in IRC. And goes with us on mad sick junkyard runs. He introduced me to the method of parts removal of "break everything around the part you need to get it out faster", made the mustang so much quicker.

I also sat in the five ton and rode in the MJ.

Also also. It was chris who broke the oh poo poo handle not me.

He also found and helped me pull the good engine for my car. By pull I mean we literally had to lift it out and carry it over to the wheelbarrow with our huge manly arms. Ken is awesome.

What is the reason that you didn't just make the top cross bar like the middle and lower one and instead of doing all that welding? Wouldn't it be stronger than the 2 welds holding the cross bar on the top?

Well. It looks like there is a donor in the junkyard near where I'm picking it up, so we'll be grabbing a spare engine, transmission, and most of the front driveline (CVs, wheel bearings, knuckles) just in case. Doubt the rear driveshaft or diff will go bad. Hopefully it'll fit in the back, because it comes with a spare set of wheels and tires too.

I got Fart Pipe a plane ticket (I was gonna get myself one, and Tremek blew some frequent flier miles on me, so time to pass the favor on) so there will probably be two goons stranded on the side of the road in Nebraska if this thing breaks down, but at least we can probably swap the engine in the breakdown lane faster that way, and we'll have actual pictures instead of the UFO sighting grade photography I generally post.

This trip is gonna be fun as hell no matter what happens.

This is going to be the best trip ever with one of my best buds. The only thing I worry about is the exposure of the massive amounts of road food farts that whether we like it or not are going to happen. Im also bringing my cameras and my phone obviously so expect fartsnaps for those of you on my snapchat. The nice pictures will happen when we get back to the east coast sometime.

Charming things of note so far

Shakes violently at 60 but not 65
No low beams but high beams arent very high so that works for now
Cant put sunvisors down without adjusting aftermarket rear view
Struts are probably original
One lug nut on the rear turns but doesn't tighten or loosen
Stereo seems to not working well so were using my phone to listen to metal
Oil smell

Its mint

Lost data access on my phone for a few hours there but I figured out how to get the slow kind for now. We are now just inside Iowa. Cant decide if its just paranoia but the engine doesn't seem to sound as happy as it used to. Sitting in a gas station parking lot right now giving it a rest to see what it sounds like once it cools off a little. It might not have liked 500 miles at 4k rpms.

This was such a fun trip! It was so great meeting up with the AI guys we got to, Tremek, Noeland, Safety Dance. Im sad that we missed out on meeting up with Bokenknuckles, lightbulb out, Boaz, Cornholio and Rhyno and the others that were on the way but it was a pretty intense trip in the little Justy that could. Since we were on a time crunch for Ken to get back to work and making sure the car was going to get us home we really had to hammer down as much as we could to get home. Who knew a 3 cyl Subaru with 230k on it could do 2000 miles at 4k with minimal problems and would go so smoothly (after we changed the death tire) until the second we got back to Kens house. We know that now but there were some harrowing moments and car guy paranoia along the way. Im uploading pictures and video right now and Ill dump them in the thread tonight. Im still trying to catch up on sleep so my brain is tired but sleep is for suckers and I can catch up on that when Im dead.

Also the muffler broke right about when we got to the MA border when Ken was trying to sneak back to his house under the radar. gently caress the roads in NY so much, they suck so noticeably worse than the rest of the loving country and I blame them for the muffler problem. Jerks.
