Excellent choice, maybe a worse movie than even the Seed of Chucky one(s? I wanna say there's a second?).

Also not sure if this is an itunes being itunes thing or what but it seems like half of the Your Stupid Minds podcast back catalog just won't download in it? Like it seems to just randomly have 2 or 3 episode chunks that just never go past the start of the download but if you move on the rest can be downloaded. I couldn't get Vampirella (a travesty) but Dracula 3D right after it downloaded fine.

Is that an iTunes Podcast app thing? I keep hearing similar things happening with Alcohollywood, but not really sure what to do about it. If so, I'm at least thankful it might not just be me not getting it.

Oh, I already love it; it's Jared's reaction that will be incredibly interesting.

Also, fun fact: Paprika will be Jared's first anime ever. Sometimes, the show feels like me showing crazy weird things to my curmudgeonly grandpa who's somehow the same age as me and seeing how he takes it.

We did an Alcohollywood on Rhinestone a year or two back, and we had an awesome video transcribing subtitles for the final duet Stallone and Parton do at the end of the film. Stupid copyright stuff made us take it down, even on Vimeo.

Nice; yeah, nothing honestly beats the live energy of an in-person podcast, so I insist on having guests who can make it to Alcohollywood Studios (read: my garden apartment) on the night. The Franchise Players idea sounds awesome - you have no idea how much better it is for your sanity when you get to talk about good movies, which I think we do more often than not now.

Since we finally tackled a bad movie this week, here's our episode on Samurai Cop. We were a hair's breadth from actually having Jay from RLM on, but he had a shoot the day we were going to record - still, it's fun to see/hear Jared be so flabbergasted by a movie.

Yeah, as another Flop House FB regular, I've come to really like the group - I think the random posts about whatever have come from the FB group in general coalescing into a nice little community, so people are actually interested in talking to each other instead of keeping discussion limited to the podcast itself. Also, it's thanks to that group that A Talking Cast!?! has been created, a podcast which goes through A Talking Cat!?! one minute at a time, and it's become a fascinating little experiment. (Full disclosure, I'm a soon-to-be-recurring guest.)

On a related note, our most recent Alcohollywood dropped into bad movie territory again with the oddball thriller Copycat:

For those of you who listen to Alcohollywood, we just finalized our lineup for the next few months:

quote:

3/19: 182 - Battle Royale
3/26: 183 - Back to the Future
4/2: 184 - Dude, Where's My Car?
4/9: 185 - Hercules (2014)
4/16: 186 - Leaving Las Vegas
4/23: 187 - The Warriors
4/30: 188 - Sorcerer
5/7: 189 - Young Einstein
5/14: 190 - The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
5/21: 191 - The City of Lost Children
5/28: 192 - Event Horizon
6/4: 193 - Good Burger
6/11: 194 - The Raven
6/18: 195 - The Rock (1995)
6/25: 196 - A Fish Called Wanda
7/2: 197 - Food of the Gods
7/9: 198 - Dredd
7/16: 199 - Space Jam
7/23: 200 - SPECIAL 200TH MYSTERY EPISODE
7/30: 201 - Big Trouble in Little China

We've got some big things planned for 200. Two hints: we're actually hiring someone to do work for this episode, and the episode will not cover a movie that exists.

True; it's mostly due to it being a listener request, but Alcohollywood is like 95% film chat with the drinking stuff being a loose framework you can just as easily ignore. Plus, we've done The Lost Weekend too, so we're not averse to ironic film selections.

Is the Animatrix actually really bad? I remember liking it when I was 16 and had a few tall glasses of water. Only ever watched it the one time. I remember there was a black and white film that was good and was a prequel to the first movie.

It's a bit hit-or-miss, but a lot of the Animatrix is actually pretty good, especially as a really short anthology that ironically has a bigger scope and greater sense of experimentation than the Matrix sequels. I love the darkness of the Second Renaissance shorts, the Matrix-noir-detective short you mentioned, the short where the kids putz around with the glitchy house. I don't even mind the World Record one, where a dude literally runs fast enough to jack out of the Matrix.

(The Peter Chung one is overlong and can suck a dick, though.)

No, I'm afraid that's to do with Wordpress. A lot of podcasters that host on wordpress are getting basically the same issues. It's not fixable by us, it's some sort of issue between Wordpress and the most recent version of the Android OS. The best I can tell you is that it's a known issue on both sides so hopefully one of them fixes something soon, it's been driving us nuts.

Yeah, I've been having the same issues on my podcast (Alcohollywood) for some time, and we run through Wordpress - tbf, it seems to only have trouble with the official iOS Podcast app, but still, that's what most people use.

1/14 - Redline
1/21 - Hot Fuzz
1/28 - Constantine

2/4 - Kung-Fu Hustle
2/11 - VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL TBD
2/18 - Jungle 2 Jungle
2/25 - Oscar Special (Best Picture Nominee: TBD)

MARS-CH (All Mars Movies for March)
3/3 - Red Planet
3/10 - Mission to Mars
3/17 - John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars
3/24 - John Carter
3/31 - The Martian

So we did this a really long time ago, so it's not really a movie mastery episode or anything, but a while back we reviewed a queer movie (sort of) called 1313: Frankenqueen. Of all the films we've watched, it was not a film. We were hoping it would be a slasher film but with an eye for dudes instead of ladies, but instead, it's basically just a bunch of shirtless guys in hot tubs, ostensibly straight, never hooking up or doing anything. It's pretty dire. But hey, here's the review, or the download link in case anyone is a glutton for hard-mode punishment.

Infamous Sphere's right; I watched 1313: UFO Invasion, and I enjoy describing it as "the least movie I've ever seen." After 40 minutes, I was begging for a big floppy dick to come out just so I was actually watching something. Was Frankenqueen also filmed in the same porn mansion as A Talking Cat!?! (Same director, by the way), and did it also feature, like, a single cougar in the movie to shake things up?

Fun fact, someone actually made a podcast about A Talking Cat?!? - no, not an episode, I mean an entire podcast, where each ~10-15 minute episode dissects an onscreen minute of A Talking Cat?!?: A Talking Cast?!?

It's intersesting as a concept, but as I'm sure you'll find, runs a little thin. But it's notable for episode 86 where they interview Andrew Helm, the writer of the film. He gives some candid insight into what it's like to work with David DeCoteau, which is exactly as nuts as you'd imagine.

I'm on that episode! :woop: I also got him to join a couple other screenwriters/industry folk on the sequel podcast, The 'Cast Next Door, which did a minute-by-minute breakdown of J-Lo's The Boy Next Door. Both podcasts are largely comprised of members of the Flop House's Facebook group.

Oh yeah, it's no big deal - it's really difficult for a show with so many rotating guests/hosts to avoid covering a lot of the same ground, so your mileage may vary on the podcast itself. The interview was fantastic, though, and actually got my name in Podmass!
