I'm taking things quite slowly, but now have my plasma weapons etc, have fought off a number of Exalt cells and didn't fail that special mission where you're escorting that chap in France. Her mission wont show up until after the alien base.

I'm currently doing the base defense mission, and after wounding a cyberdisk with one of my regulars and a MEC, I ran a base security into half cover to finish off the last two health with a grenade. The other nearby cyberdisk then immediately blasts the security officer for twice her maximum health. The camera zooms into the poor officer being blasted onto her back as she weakly says "I did what I could..." There's no  big enough.

If you want to play another campaign with more maps, equipment, enemies, and some surprise twists, play an EW campaign. It's a great expansion that really improves the game. If you want to play a campaign that changes practically everything other than the basic combat mechanics, and is a lot longer with more options, play Long War.
